I love you for asking this! Its the one great out doors thing that gives me the most satisfaction. You can go to Lowes and ask for the heaviest gage plastic they have and tell them what its for, they will give you a roll (they will ask size)so take that home and dig the hole the size you want start laying the rubber across, cut, leave a good 10 to 15 inches on top of ground. Now lay the rubber the other way and keep doing that until you have lined twice completely. At this point I just use the rest of the rubber so I won't have it lying around. There! You can now place your rocks around and even throw in a little cement to keep things in place. Go to Wal-Mart and get the biggest aquarium pump you can find, put in the pond, along with Coi or large gold fish, and your turtles. Frankly I have never been very successful with any fish but Coi they are hardy and live out the winter. Just remember to make the hole big enough so your cat does not fish out your fish!!!

If you don't have the room:
Look into a Pondless waterfall
or a container pond.

Basic pond installation:
Grade and shape the pond area
cut out shelfs for the plants to sit
on and for rocks to be placed.
Purchase a rubber liner 45 mill and
foam for under the lyner to help stop rips from
rocks. Stretch out the liner, place large boulders
to hold the liner in place (on the shelfs).
Dig out your filter area, place it to make sure
the liner and filter all inthe correct areas.
Start filling with rocks etc. Make sure the
liner is covered with boulders at the top to
hold it in place before you start adding a bunch
of other rocks or water.
Rock mixture 2/3 boulders 1/3 small egg rock for filling
in the areas.

The fish preferably Koy are the best kind. You will need
a bubbler for the winter months so the fish can still have
some fresh air.

Sorry, turtles and fish can't live in the same pond unless you want to buy new fish, weekly. This could bring all kinds of fish diseases to your pond. Or you could tape your turtles little mouth's shut. Really, first you have to choose between 'fish' or 'turtles' in a pond that size.

Dig a hole where you want you pond and put water in it. Once the water is in it you can put a shark or a killer whale in the water. I wouldnt suggest snapping turtles as they might bite the fins on the shark or whale and get eaten.
