First you have to become a government agent in the FBI, CIA,
or in Russia's case the former KGB.

You are basically a government agent who is very knowledgeable and speaks many different languages fluently.

You can also be a freelance "spy" for your particular organization or cause in order to gain information:
ie A pakistan spy in a nuclear facility to gain knowledge of how it works,
an Irish IRA spy proliferation of Scotland yard,

It's basically anyone who can fit in well with their enemy/nemissis' territory in order to gain data and use it against them.

You would have to join the FBI and work your way up from there. You have to be a person with supreme intelligence, very physically fit, and be able to look different all the time. It gets very complicated. It's nothing like you see in the movies. Real spies do not have tons of gadgets and money. Most of them appear to be real people like you and I. I hope this helps
