Which one of us does God look like? The ugly ones or the pretty ones? If God is humanoid in form - how does he get to float around the universe without oxygen?

Jenna - that sounds like quite a plausable explaination. I like it, thanks.

Because he dropped us out of the sky after he made us and some people hit the ugly tree more than others

hi! God is a non-actual being. at the same time as he says he made us in his image, he's conversing contained in the experience of having the 4 issues that animals purely do not. ability, understanding, love, and justice. some human beings received't agree it truly is so. even if that is! Love is a complicated word, because there are a determination of differing kinds of love. Godly love is something that animals are thoroughly incapable of, although they're able to a miles extra person-friendly love (yet no longer authentic love, for romance is unselfish, animals aren't to any extent further). Animals do no longer seek for ability over others, purely dominance over a p.c.. or herd. No animal has ability over all the different animals, yet people can and characteristic destroyed entire species. understanding is something that calls for a lengthier memory than maximum animals own, as well as reasoning potential (no longer instinct, reason) that animals do no longer have. And justice is something human, for no animal seeks justice. besides, ladies come from the male body, and were also made in God's image. in spite of everything, God is a spirit creature and has no sex. he's not lady or male. he's a non-actual being, hence no longer requiring a actual sex. wish that enables! Have an excellent day! Luv ya, Tashi :)

We are made in His image in that we have the capacity to think, to make choices, to love ... We can be good; we can make moral choices. We have a heart and soul ... We are in His image by who we are not the body we live in.

Because some of the aspects we associate with God's image may not be operating properly, it doesn't mean the person is devoid of God's image. Rather, it shows that the image is somehow skewed or distorted. Its like this analogy of a car being made in a certain likeness (such as the body style of a Corvette for example). When it is wrecked, the damage does not nullify the idea of being formed in that likeness, but shows the image as defective and in need of repair.

It is about our common humanity rather than physical appearance. We are all human beings, we are all members of the human race and we should never forget that. We should not give in to prejudice or judging people on their appearance. We should respect each and every individual and remember that we all start out the same and other people's problems could have been ours had we had a different path.
Whether you believe in God or not, remembering our common humanity is the way to overcome a lot of the evil in the world.

Do we really look THAT different? Are we even really all that different from say, a dog? 2 eyes, 2 ears, 1 nose with 2 nostrils, 4 major limbs, 2 ears with one hole each, a mouth with teeth and a tongue, hair, etc. If there was a god creating life in its image, it's obvious that it isn't just humans that have the "godly" look about them.

This is a classic case of Torah mistranslation. This verse is usually translated: “And G-d said: ‘Let us make Man in Our image, in Our likeness. They shall rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and over the animals, the whole earth, and every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.’"

So, to answer your question, we are made in the image of God and whoever he was talking to.

We are all images of God, we ARE God and each and every one of us (and everything) a different aspect of God. Many Native Americans call God "The Great Spirit". I think that this sums it up even better.

God Almighty did not make us in his image but he made the true inner self of us in his image. And our true inner self is our soul (atman in Hinduism) residing within our heart.

No human body is ever created by God. As we sow so shall be reap... nothing more or less! As we perform our karma... so shall be our future. God Almighty has got nothing to do with it. God Almighty never interferes with the creation of his.

On the contrary every soul (atman) existing in the whole of Cosmos was made by God Almighty in his image. The essence of all souls (atmans) is the same.

Now depending upon the residual balance of karma of a human being in a particular life... we get our next birth. And the body manifested by our soul (atman) varies from other bodies depending on the balance of karma of each and every individual.

It is only after gaining enlightenment that every enlightened soul draws upon itself the true image of God... all dross within having been removed forever... the soul comes back to its original pristine form... the image of God Almighty in its totality! I think there are some metaphors in the Bible, and that one just means that we were all created with a soul close to God. Remember, I dont think God is concerned with outside looks, but inside. He cares about your soul.

(While not relegious), If made in his image, then we as a colective whole are made in his image, the being is in his image, the soul, the body is just a vessel, and all look differnt to allow us our own individuality, to allow us choices. If we were all the same, there would be no choice. God would have had the foresight to know we would have to be differnt in order to have free will.
