If you're not sure of your decision, don't make one on the fly.

Be honest with yourself--could you get a different/better job? In this day and age the economy is tough, and getting a job is even more difficult. Don't quit RIGHT now unless you have another job lined up.

$9/hour isn't bad. It's not great, but if you don't have a degree, that will be the top of your chain for awhile. Driving 30-40 minutes seems like a lot , but ask those around you for their driving times. Why? I live in a large city and driving 30 minutes to work is thought of as the regular drive.

Basically, don't tell her anything until you figure out what to do. Acting on your emotions right now could land you unemployed quickly.

I think you could say any of the things you typed here to her, in an effort to ask what she would do if she were you. The fact is, that sounds awful. Is this how Canada finances all that "free" health care? I live in the US, so forgive my ignorance, but $9 an hour take home after a total of $2,400 in deductions TWO WEEKS!!! That's $1,200 a week! That can't be right! That's more than you would pay for rent in a decent hotel! People don't live like that and pay those kind of taxes and deductions, do they? Taking home $9 an hour for a forty hour week would be hardly enough for a single person to live on in a rather stringent budget.

Is it worth having insurance for you? Maybe you should read all the rules and stuff to make sure you know what the benefit is. Does the deductible mean you have to pay 2400 before ANYTHING!?

I perceived insurance the same way when I had it, but I thought maybe I had it wrong since it sounded so awful, yet people say insurance is so great.

Tell her you do not want the package you are allowed to turn it down you do not have to take the medical it is a gamble if you do not have it. Are you on a work Visa or are you now a citizen you have to think a lot about it before you do it. You are not the only one out there on this kind of money.

ouch.....You mean to tell me that your deductible is $2400? If you feel that you can find another job then run. If you can't cuz I know for first hand that it is hard trying to find work. I would just stay. You do not have to have health insurance? But it is a risk that you have to take. I was thinking about canceling my health insurance the exact same day my son broke his arm. So it is a hard call.

Explain your concerns. If she can not offer you any alternatives, then turn in your notice. And don't cut off your nose to spite your face. Negotiate time for interviews and give a 30 day notice. You should be able to get another job in that length of time if you have a good back round.

Tell her that you can not afford to work for her... Its that simple. Break it down for her and let her know that $9 and hour isn't enough to pay for your gas to get there and back and then pay the insurance, and still have money to support yourself. There are plenty of good paying jobs out there. you will find one. Good Luck!

I would just ask her what she would do and keep asking politely and act innocently until she tells you maybe this isnt the job for you....and you can then chime in with....You know what....maybe your right! Can I put my 2 week notice and thank her for having such a great idea....lol
Good Luck.

Be completely honest, she may work something out for you due to all the turnover in the office so far
