A 6 month old baby needs to be seen by the doctor, if you will notice on the back of OTC medications "under two, consult a doctor". If you baby has a cold there is no cure. Use a cool mist humidifier it will help him sleep.

Have him seen, even if it's for your own peace of mind. The doctor will probably just confirm what you already know, but can also rule out anything more serious. Talk to the doc about doses of medicine, but try and just stick to his symptoms. If he has a runny nose, then treat that. If he doesn't have a fever, try to stay away from a combination medicine. Even though I recognize the benefits of medication, when my son was the same age, I tried natural remedies first. Saline drops for his stuffy nose, then using the bulb syringe to clear him out, and keeping a cool water humidifier on in his room. That helped to an extent, then we added Pedia-Care. I hope you and your little one start to feel better soon.

You should definitely make him an appt. He most likely needs a decongestant and most over the counter meds do not give dosage for 6 month olds. My experience is that over the counters are not strong enough and the doctor can prescribe stronger things. You might want to rule out a bacteria infection too.

Call your doctor's office. They will want to check his throat to make sure it is not sore and they will do a quick swab to check for Strep. My son just got over a nasty cold and I bought those Vapor Plugs. They plug right into the outlet and have refill cartridges. They work really good. I put it in the outlet right next to his crib. If he is not wanting to eat make sure he is getting Pedialyte so he does not get dehydrated. The electrolytes help with brain development.

For his age, make an appointment with his doctor, especially since he's not feeding well. Reason being: over the counter cold meds can mask other, more serious, symptoms in babies. I always say, better safe than sorry.

You prabably should make an appointment with his doctor. but untill you get in use the tylenol brand cold for infants because the dosing is by weight if you baby is about half the weight it says for a full dose give a half dose if he/she is lighter give a quarter dose.

Call your doctor that is what they are there for. And be careful using decongestion medicines they can sometimes dry the lungs out to much and that can cause pnemonia. Call a real doctor and see what they recommend you do. Everybody is different.

With a little one like that, it's always better to see a doctor. But a lot of times the phamacists can help you with medication too.
