For 17 years now I have been baking, packaging and delivering over 125 bags of cookies to the elderly around our city.

Some of these people have family that live only a few miles away and yet they get nothing from them. Not even a visit! It is truly sad to see these parents and grandparents, who have their rooms filled with family photos, sit there with nothing and no one. The looks on their faces when I come each year with cookies is so overwhelmingly wonderful !! I wish you all could see the light in their eyes.

Every one thinks of the children during the holidays but really, the most fabulous thing you could do for a child IS BAKE WITH THEM AND THEN SHARE THOSE COOKIES WITH THE ELDERLY. Show your children what it is like to do for others. Let them see the look on the faces and know they did something wonderful.

If EVERYONE would teach their children to do this then slowly but surely the world would change. Nice dream huh? Yaaaaa... a gal can only dream !!

I contribute to several local charities. I also participate in one of the "Adopt a Family" drives where I get the Christmas "wish" list from a family, buy the gifts, wrap them, and then get the benefit of knowing I helped make the holiday special for someone who might not have had much to look forward to on Christmas morning (especially the children).

Volunteer in homeless shelter (cooking and/or serving food, reading to children), help with our City's Gift Tree (we buy gifts and food for needy children and deliver them a few days before Christmas)...it's a feeling like no other to see their faces when the big bags of wrapped presents arrive at their door.
