Guys, in general, would choose the wife. Guys aren't 'wired' for taking care of a child on their own. The thinking is..."We can make another baby."

Depends upon why the wife doesn't want to live. She must have a reason for wanting her husband to choose the baby. Maybe she has a terminal illness or a 'worthless' life as she sees it. Let's say she's a hopeless substance abuser who came from an abusive background and thinks she will be a bad mom, but that the husband will be a good father. Maybe she is suicidal to begin with. If the birth is in a hospital, there will be a lot of people around to advise and support them, not to mention family and friends. Whatever choice is made, it will not be an easy one. Ending a life while saving another is tragic.

This is a no brainer. ALWAYS take the wife. The concept that the unborn has the same level of importance as an adult is ludicrous. There are other alternatives for having a child later including invitro fertaization and implanting in a surrogate.
This may seem cold but a fetus can be replaced.
We should not be making a choice of potential over living people.

Dammed if you do Dammed if you don't, however there is no way that I would sacrifice the women I love in order to save and unborn child as painful as it would be to lose that child that would be the tearful call I would have to make and it would be the right call regardless of my wife's request, to loose the women I love would be much more painful as I would be bringing up a child who would never know their mother and all the comforts that the mother brings to a child, i love my children and the joy they bring to me everyday, but if it came to my girls or their mother in the delivery room the women I love would be my only choice.
Reminds me of the MASH episode I saw a few years back. Korean lady had this little baby and there were U.S. soldiers all hiding from the enemy the baby was crying and the enemy was looking for them and the lady suffocated her child so that they would not be caught, I was gasping for air after seeing that, and that has stayed with me what would you have done in that situation

To lose either one can be devastating. The health of both of them must be considered. If you choose to save your wife there is probably a chance you might be able to have or adopt other children. You both will go through alot of grief and will need help to deal with all the mixed emotions, including feelings of guilt and anger. You can help each other through these times and go on sharing your lives.
ps: If you choose to save the baby there are additional problems to cope with. You will be trying to deal with the loss of your wife and the same mixed emotions while trying to be a good single parent to a child who is totally dependent upon you.
It's important to have a good support system to help you through this. In the end, You will be the one to live with the decision.
If it were mine- I would probably save my wife if her chances were very good.

If I were a guy I would choose the wife because you can always bring more babies into the world together. But you can never bring back the one you loved for so long.

That sounds like a tough question to answer... it is easy right now to answer because it is not happening and there are no emotions involved.

Either way I would choose my wife because I love her very much and she is the light and love of my life so my life would be very dark without her... so to answer--- my loving wife

You asked your question, but don't want to accept the answers you are getting. Open your mind, and see that for most people, they would rather save their wife's and continue with the life the two of them have.

I would choose my wife because we could always adopt a baby in the future.
