4 days... one particular doctor I want to hit, tried to make me go home on the 3rd day- my worst day of all of them... and he said he had signed the release papers- screwing up everything... I told him i wasn't ready to go yet because it was my worst day, but he kept saying I need to go home. So the nurses were awesome, and they said, hunny, you take as long as you need- and you get 4 days, so if you need that, then stay. I did :) This was a hospital in Ohio, USA... so not sure about the German ones. Take as long as you need- it's very painful!
Goodluck!
P.S.- another tip- roll the white hospital blanket up in a line, and use that to put pressure on your incision.... especially when you laugh, cough, sneeze, or even walk! That helped me so much!
they will make you get up and out of bed soon after- it's good for you, so push yourself to do it... however, have them help you get out of bed- I also had one nurse who didn't bother helping me out, so I had to ask her to help.

I think it mainly depends on the type of insurance you have. I believe it's generally 2-4 days here in the US, NOT including the day of c-section. I was in the hospital a total of 4 days. I could've stayed one more day, but I wanted to go home. After I got home I realized I should've stayed that extra day because at least in the hospital you get help with the baby and your meals prepared for you. Most women I have talked to that had both deliveries said they prefer the c-section. I thought my recovery went well. My OB said I can plan a c-section if I get pregnant again. I thought I would like to try a VBAC, but now I'm thinking I'll do another c-section. My daughter was diagnosed with Down's Syndrome and was breech, which is why I had to have a c-section. Everything went just fine. My prayers are with you that your delivery will be just perfect and that your baby will be healthy. I feel special that God has blessed me with such a special little girl. God bless you and your baby.

I had my son at 4pm, so I stayed that night, and 2 more nights after that, 3 total. I was in American hospital though. I did hear, too, that European countries keep you for longer, but I don't know anything specifically about Germany.
Good luck with your c-section, and hope your baby will be OK!

I have had three children and all were delivered by c-section. The average stay I have had was 5 days. The time spent in the hospital depends on the health of the mother as well as the baby. Good luck and putting a pillow on your belly if you cough, sneeze, etc.helped me out. Strengthen your arm muscles as this will help you to get out of bed easier when you pull on the rails to get out of bed!

I had an emergency c-section and was in the hospital for 9 days since I kept spiking a fever. It just depends on how you are doing.
