Yes, you can run both of them on the same computer. I do it right now. If you are copying DVDs, keeping in mind Copyright laws, you can always use DVDShrink (google it). Nero has the capability to copy non-copyprotected DVDs as does Roxio. Any way you go the software is going to cache the data on the harddrive anyway, but the process can be one step... click burn and forget it until it is finished. Hope this helps.
Sorry, forgot DVDShrink is free.

you want to rip a DVD from one drive and burn directly to a DVD in a seperate drive? sure it will work, i do that too. i use Roxio easy CD & DVD creator 6. its so easy to use and can burn almost anything.
if you want to burn movies, then DVD xCopy is great. you'll have a hard time finding it though b/c its illegal now. i bought a copy when it first came out, anticipating something like this.
and what with the snow comment? lol i havent gotten any yet.

To burn, a good program would be Record Now MAX. It ,for me, automaticaly recognizes what type of drive or drives you have and uses them to the max. You don't even have to change settings. It does it all for you. All you do is click make a copy, then, of a DVD, then it prompts you for the dvd and opens the reader drive. After you close it, it reads what type of disk it is then prompts you again for a Blank DVD disk and opens the burner drive for you. After you close it it makes sure the disk is empty and if it is not, i will ask you (if it is a DVD RW) if you would like to erase it. After you select yes, it erases, then reads and copies at the same time. Best program ever in my opinion.

Yes, am doing that! I find that doing a copy from one DVD drive to another takes some time, as an intermediate copy is placed on the HDD anyway...
You might try to download Nero with Ares P2P. Version higher than 6.
