No. It doesn't cause it...if a teenager is stupid enough to think that a song can tell him to kill or steal or be negative, then the teenager has the problem already. Those that use music and video games or movies, are just using it as a scapegoat or seriously need some psychological help.
And I agree with some of the others who said that the music reflects the negativity of teenagers rather than visa versa. Those songs are written by those who have lived the negativity and feel compelled to write or sing about it. But there is plenty of positive music out ther as well. Why doesn't anyone say "I heard this great song today and it compelled me to give away half of my belongings to those who needed it more!" Because you do that out of your kind heart, not because a song told you to.

No it is not music. However the loud music could affect their hearings. Recently the Ipod, MP3 are the worst case. Using loudly and longer could harm. Though wav format music was nearer to our hearing.
Before you talk about negative behavior you should know what is a behavior.
As a child they have such behavior but mostly they get from atmosphere in which they live. For negative behavior there could be a lot of reasons which adult do not understand specially immature parents. The main problem is people get marry and give birth to a child but they don't care to know the psychology of a children.

No. Teenagers are the cause of negative teenage behavior. Mainly because their brains switch off for 7 years.

When I was a teenager music didn't make me do anything. Whatever I did, either negative or positive was because I wanted to do it already, not because some band supported it.

While music can affect emotions, they cannot originate something that was not already there.
It seems that music is a scapegoat so that parents and others can pass the responsibility to something else instead of taking it on themselves for not being observant enough when problems began.

No, no way. Music is music, it's entertainment. Those who let music afffect them have a problem, not the music they listen to. The blame music, blame TV violence crowd is just looking for a scapegoat for the cause of society's juvenile crime.

No, I think it brings out something which is already there. Same with violent movies/computer games. Its the person not the music. I've listened to metal for most of my life and I've never felt the urge to kill someone.
