well, being by yourself isn't always lonely... so maybe you meant "Do you like to be alone or with others?"

And to be honest, I like both... We all have our days where we can't help but need our "alone" time...

I can be a social butterfly, and I love meeting new people, and just having fun... But I have fun when I'm by myself too... I think not everyone feels comfortable being alone, especially in public.

But you just have to get to know yourself, what you really truly like... many times we enjoy doing things with others, but can't see the line where it's something they enjoy more than we do, but we are happy just to make them happy...

I didn't used to feel comfortable by myself, and I always surrounded myself with people... but I should have done more by myself so that I became my own person early... what happens when these people are no longer a part of your life? You get left behind, good luck picking up the pieces and putting them back together, when you didn't even know where they went to begin with! (I know from experience)

Life takes crazy twists, and we need to be ready to face these obstacles... And the best "weapon" we have to fight through the hard parts of life to get to the good ones, is knowing what we are fighting for, what we want, what makes us happy (and God).... if we don't know what that is, we won't conquer everything God planned for us!

So this turned out to be a longer answer than I thought it would be... But it truly makes sense!

I find that the experience of being alone or with others can be better or worse depending on who you're with or what happens when you're alone.
For example being with people who ignore you is worse that going for a quiet walk or reading a book, where as being with good friends is way better than trying not to die of exposure to the cold in the middle of nowhere.
It's a tough question, and anyone would need more infomation to make an apropriate judgement.

Being alone does not mean someone is lonely...some of us prefer our own company over others. And sometimes I can feel lonely in a crowd.

I like company more than anything, yet it's nice to have some time on your own to think things over, unfortunately I spend more time on my own for my own good as the children have all flown the nest and am a widow, being left alone through circumstances beyond my control is not an idea situation to be in,but I have plenty of hobbies to persue so I guess I am lucky.

Lonely is a state of mind, alone is being by yourself. I really enjoy being alone sometimes, but I enjoy others as well.

i think the question should be "do you like to be alone or be with others"? thing is, even though i have not much problems being in a group with people, i also find it comfortable going about on my own. sometimes when i tell my friends that i went to town alone, they will give me "are you crazy?!" look. but what is so wrong in going around on your own?

I enjoy a healthy balance. We all need our private time. We all need social interactions. I have to comment on your question, however! Being alone doesn't always mean you're lonely!

I'm around people all day at work or with family, so sometimes it's nice to have time alone.

I'd prefer to be alone, but there are times we need others.(no one can ever live alone, detached from the world) it depends on our personality and innate attitude- whether we are introverts or extroverts. usually introverts prefer to be alone, and extroverts prefer to be with others, because that's where they get their energy from.
