Tunisia certainly deals in euros - not sure about euro cheques - possibly in hotels in the main tourist resorts. Your credit card might be more widely acceptable. Note that you aren't allowed to take the local Tunisian currency out of the country when you are leaving - you change it for euro or whatever currency you want at the airport. Enjoy your visit.

No. Checks are an easy way to scam!
We, in Tunisia, accept paper money and Visa, MC and wire transfers: INSTANT money: Cash: certain liquidity. Checks take time to be cashed. By that time, you can leave the country before the check is cleared.
You can exchange Paper Euros anywhere: Banks, Hotel, Post offices. Some merchants are willing to accept paper Euros even if it's illegal. (unpunishable! they'll just confiscate the money).
Make sure you don't have any local currency left on you when you leave the country or Customs at the border will piss you off (sorry). Exchange your Euros or withdraw money from ATMs only when you need liquidity.
