The things you are missing here is a lot,Here in pakistan more convicts by the old law were men.Pakistan has very open minded social structure thats why we have women who can do every posible desicion of their lives, they are getting into police, army, airforce and free to chose their life's path.so its nothing to say that men want freedome to rape women. This law is ok in most circumstances but it will also give rise to prostitution and obsenity. The result will be unevolved and total failure of social norms and we will see increase in HIV rate and rape cases.Even modrates are also againest this law. This is also a fact that there is only once, death punishment was given in the history in pakistan. The assumption that we hang every women and men who get caught having sex is also wrong. The thing is that these accusations of women rights abuses are just media managment to put pressue on the government and people by westrenized elite secular forces in the country which is also danjours because in pakistan the secluars are also on extreme and they are unreasonable as mullahs.Example is that a 10 year old kid can watch a porn in internet cafe because these secularist are againest any laws to regulate internet and ISPs or voulantary protecton by local governments which will able city official to check these cafes who are snatching innocence from kids. Why these elites dont talk about child abuse or literacy rate.Because if pakistani people become educated and selfaware then they will chose their own path and there will be no space for the extremists to tell people what to do.

The problem is, if it is about religion all Pakistani become too religious. But later they cheat, kill, rape, kidnap, fraud, every kind of things they do which is not allowed in their religion.
If it about USA they talk nonsense but if US embassy start issuing visa they will first in the line to get visa.
Women in that country are suffering, the saddest things is they are raped by their own people. And if they are raped they should be raped in front of four witnesses so later they can produce in the court. Isn't it interesting?
Now the president has made some changes under the pressure of entire world and the Fundamentalist are shouting. The President should think that after this change how those fundamentalist can rape?
This is just a name of game. Pakistani women need support from other countries to combat that male dominated society under which they are living in harsh conditions.

No its not really about that. You have to understand that women's right in that country are about 80 years behind the U.S. It is sad but women are still considered to be 1/2 a person in that country. Rape happens in that country all the time. And in most cases, the men do get away with it. But this issue is regarding marriage to under age women. The religious sect of that country is trying to keep the laws as close to there religious ties as possible. And this includes marriage to very young women. I have personally heard of cases that little girls are forced into marriages with men that are, in some cases, 20+ years older then them. In these cases it would be rape. If the man is 30 and the women is 14, then yes it is rape. Some people in the government are trying to change this. Give women more rights, but since that country is a religious run government, and women's rights are not laid out in any religious documentation, this will still happen. Hope this helps.

The mullahs are the guys who have tied down Pakistan to a near failed nation. The country has long went away from the ideals set by Jinnah. The mullahs have given Pakistan a bad name world over, they call for Jihads from the comfort of their SUVs or when hiding in some cave, they have destroyed the modern outlook of Pakistan, its because of their influence that Pakistan is a military democracy. They don't read much out of the Quran. They haven't seen light in their life and wants others to follow suit. They believe they can save ISLAM by throwing it to the dark ages. They treat women as personal belongings. They are not only a threat to Pakistan but also to the world.

The short answer: yes. Beneath all the showy breast-pounding piety that's exactly what it is. How many crimes would EVER get a conviction if four witnesses, and all of a single gender, had to testify that they saw the crime in question? Especially if the victim would in turn be accused of a crime for failure to secure the necessary witnesses? Virtually none. Imagine how many murders, especially gangland slayings, would never get convicted. How many robberies? How many assaults? It's a sick joke.

Thank you Chris for bringing this to everyone's attention. I beleive the answer to your question is yes.
I wish women the world over would wake up and realize that they don't have to accept being treated as less than human by repressive societies.
Women raise the children and it is up to them to instill in the children that men and women ARE equal.
I realize major religions were more than likely invented to shackle women because men feared them, but it's way past time to throw off those bonds.
Women need to just do it.

It's not rape if there aren't 4 male witnesses, so who's complaining? In your country, does a tree falling in the woods make noise if 4 males don't hear it fall?
