i'm living it up this year with $100 to spend on 5 family members. i usually never have enough $$ for anything, so i make things for friends and family. last year, i personalized t-shirts for everyone. they all really liked them too. my son-in-law's tshirt said "rogues do from behind." lol. gotta know about world of warcraft to get that one. i sell my original clothing designs and diy stuff on ebay, so i always have a ton of craft materials. i think most ppl like it when you take the time to make them something anyway...a gift from the heart.

I usually spend more than I wanted because my list kept growing because I wanted to include everyone. I finally made a budget and planned appropriately because I am not rich. I also looked at practical gifts to give people who wouldn't dislike that I didn't spend a lot - just happy I thought of them. In fact, one year, I did calendars. People are always wanting a calendar for the new year, so I did that.

This year, I am being practical and making decoupage centerpieces (materials were about $8 per person) and getting some fun stuff as well as baking - people love home made goodies around this time.

I am using cash and I will probably spend around $300. I've already spent $200 on my husband's family, of which $60 was to ship it there. I don't have a large list and for the people I am not giving a gift, I am wishing them well with a nice card and candy cane from See's.

Cash only. No credit. I don't want to pay for Christmas all year.

I set a limit of $50 per person, but I only have 4 people to buy for. My nieces (2) each get $25 spent on them, and I spend about $100 on my husband, and he does on me too. Then I spend about another $100 on various gift exchanges (work, church) and I bake cookies to have on hand in case anyone suprises me with a gift I wasn't expecting.

We get by altogether for about $700.

I set a Christmas budget and STICK TO IT!!!!!!!

For the holidays I spend $50 a person, and that has grown now to 15 people. I use my charge card, but I always pay my bill off when it comes. I do alot of shopping on line, and most of the teenagers would prefer money, so it is easy enough.

Cash using credit is a bad idea thats the best time of the year for ID theft. Cash is much much safer.

I use cash (Debit Card). I have already spent around $450 on my family and my husband's family. I still have to finish shopping for my husband which I will be doing on Sunday. So, that's another $200-$250. So all together around $650-$700 just on gifts, which is not including tree, decorations, etc.

After all is said and done, after presents, cards, entertaining, etc., I probably spend around $2000. I try not to put everything on credit cards so I have a handle on what I'm really spending.

I always spend way too much as well. Just spend like you want. Just don't start dipping into your savings or go down to 0 in your checking.
I normally hit up the sales and buy more things for people. I have outlets right by my house and it is great!

I would only use cash and I would keep it minimal. If the people you are giving to are more concerned about how much you spend than the thought you put into the gift then they are not nie people. DON"T GO INTO DEBT!!!
