Oh my sweet deer!
You are not alone in that cold wilderness of dispair and contempt for such a lame movie.

My Rudolph, feels the need to light up his nose with hours of TV and watching that and another bad example of holiday bliss, the Christmas Vacation.

I am with you... I would much rather fly away with Dasher. And make like a Comet to the nearest Mall for a visit with Santa.

I actually saw it in THE THEATER when it came out! (Btw it never made much of a splash at the box office.) I was w my siblings and cousins and we all loved it (I was the oldest of the bunch. . .maybe in middle school or jr high?)
One thing in the movie that turned me off was the dad. He was too gruff and yelled too much. I could never figure out why the mom liked him. Now that I'm older I just laugh at it. That movie reminds me of an old WB cartoon where this little boy is sitting in class and then daydreams himself into another world. . . .

Also I think it's a midwest thing. If you like Drew Carey you'll laugh your butt off at this movie, but if not. . . .

I am now 23 and have been watching that movie since I was a wee tyke. My mom and older sister make fun of me because it didn't matter what time of year it was, I would watch it anyway. If the same movie came out today, probably wouldn't be a big hit, but I think it is a classic.

My mother (she's 59) hates it !!! She gets FURIOUS right after Thanksgiving just thinking that many cable channels will be showing it. My sister bought some Christmas ornaments with characters from the movie and my mom had a fit!! She especially hates Ralphie's dad and the leg lamp.

Yeah....I saw it for the first time about ten years ago in college. I didn't understand the hoopla. I STILL don't understand why TNT runs it 24 hours straight Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

It's enjoyable---ONE TIME. I can think of much better Christmas Movies, though.

I tend to agree with you. It's cute enough, but it seems to have been added to the canon of "special" Christmas movies, when it's really nothing more than a glorified TV-movie with a few particularly good scenes and lines.

There are worse holiday films, but this isn't one that is a must-see, imho.

I don't hate it... but it's not my favorite either. I like White Christmas better. But now my hubby cracks up at the entire movie. So I put in DVD of something else til it's over.

My husband and son love it. The only part I even found funny was the scene with the kid in all the winter clothes. I just think there are better ones out there.

I HATE IT! I don't know how TBS shows it for 24 hours. It drive me crazy. The best Christmas movie is The Santa Clauss.
