I live in ohio and I dont know the laws and rules in California. I don't think she qualifies for medicare or welfare. Her husband has his own small painting business and they never bothered to get insurance. she is 57 years old and walks with a cane and its getting worse. She is in so much pain. Please help.

Grossmont Hospital is the public hospital in San Diego. She can go there and get assessed by an orthopedist. The admissions clerk can advise her about the cost for surgery and what programs she may be eligible for.

not sure there's anything they can do! unless raise money for her thru a fund-raiser thingy.
or tell her to try to look for a clerical position or something to get insurance. sometimes you have to work for the things you want.
