My daughter is almost 1 1/2. We had a dog (no longer now) and she was quite happy and good with it.
would like to get a kitten, but i am pregnant. i know i cant go near cat feces/ litter box.
Anyone have experience or ideas?
where on earth would i even put a litter box with the toddler.
And i really cant stand alot of animal hair sticking to newborn clothes/ toys etc.
do ALL cats shed hair? i know you can brush them often to help. maybe a kitten isnt the best idea, just want some feedback please.

The child is too young. You are pregnant = no kitten

Pregnant women should get be around cats; also thing of the baby.

Yes all cats shed except the hairless ones.

You are going to be too busy to take care of the kitten and your children are too young

I had 4 cats (still do) when I was pregnant and when both my kids were babies and toddlers. I honestly never had an issue with cat hair. If your husband for some reason cannot change the litter box, either get a self cleaning one and wear gloves while tossing the waste or wear disposible gloves when you clean a regular litter box. I would put the box in a room where you can put a gate in the doorway.

You do have to remember that kittens are frisky so you may want to think about getting an older kitten that has calmed down a bit or adopt an adult cat that has been around little ones.

If you're in doubt, then don't take a cat now. What's the urge? Especially if you're pregnant. Can you imagine yourself in a few months with 2 young kids plus a cat to take care of? Many cats are not good with kids anyway, they just don't like them.

Regarding the litter box - if you have an attached garage, put it in the carage and install a pet door so cat could get in and out on its own.

There is a hairless kind of cats, I actually heard they are quite nice and have good temperament. Sphynx is the name. If you really want a cat, look into getting one of these (see link below). In any case, do a lot of research online before you commit. Keep in mind: it's a cat!

Dont get a kitten, it with scratch the baby. She is not old enough to understand you cant be rough with the kitten. Get a small dog instead if you want to get a new pet.

Or you can always get some fish.... Low maintenance.

I have a friend, who's wife has three cats and onr goes outside and the other two go inside. He has cat or doggy door in his back door and has the cat's litter box out on the back porch. If you don't have a back porch, make them outdoor cats and don't have a litter box. Feed them and let them come in, but put them out several times a day or put in a doggy door for them and let them go in and out as they please.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Wait until they are older.
