I think if you have a buring desire to write then you have "a love for writing". Once you pen something, send it out in the world by entering every possible contest available in the genre you choose. You might get some rejections. If you are truly a writer you will not give up. At some point someone will confirm that you are indeed a writer with talent. Taking a class or two at a local college or continuing ed. will help get you some fast and honest feedback Good luck.
