There are always going to be exceptions and variables, but I would have to say that for the most part video games do not create violent people. Now if there are already some violent tendencies in a person a violent game/movie will incite more. This is why parents need to get involved, not the government. Yes, Rockstars games do seem to glorify gangs, bullies, and just general violence. I still would like to play them. Would I want every little kid to have access to them, no.

I think is not. About the actual research on the rithual methods, also connected to Freud's conception of "psichic balance" , we can say that violent video games have a catartic effect on mind, that means that the mind in the games free herself from violence on the PC. You can see it watching someone playng and his reaction, that are for the most "violent". The same for the media. But is a difficult speech to do.

No, for one, video games actually hinder physical activity. If anything, people should be worried about video games affecting hearing/eyesight, response time, hand-eye coordination....oh no that's right...they actually IMPROVE those things, my bad :P

No one is born violent. Period.

Behavior is modifiable, so in that aspect I will agree that a violent human can be 'created'. Why do you think violence exists?
Because fear exists.

The most fearful are usually the most violent.

Do video games make your child fearful? Not anymore than a scary movie...THAT'S WHY THEY HAVE RATINGS.

The mind can only handle so much trauma before it decides to defend itself...anger and violence is one of those natural defense mechanisms of the abdula oblengata(sp?). It's who we all are...but it's controllable.

Unless you're insane.

There is definitely a connection btw consuming violent material and violent behaviour. If all behaviour is learned, then for argument's sake, we can also conclude that violent behaviour can be created.

However, when we talk about "pre-disposition" we accept that there are other influencing factors eg. social norms, social environment, law, genetics and so forth, that affect how that learned behaviour is manifested.

So we are talking about 2 major forces : LEARNED BEHAVIOUR and FACTORS INFLUENCING RETENTION OF BEHAVIOUR.

If the influencing factors yield a greater tendency towards retention, then clearly, continous consumption of violent material can lead to a greater manifestation/disposition of violent behaviour. If influencing factors yield a lower tendency towards retention, then continous consumption of violent material would most likely lead to a lower manifestation/disposition to violent behaviour.

a lot of people would like to blame these games on these kids or people in general to be violent. i disagree. in my opinion i blame the parents. they need to talk to their kids and explain that violence is not the answer. they need to help their kids feel secure and that they need to think things thru before over reacting to a situation. i grew up playing all kinds of video games and i am not a violent person. my mom taught me to try my best to brush things off and not to over react to a bad situation. Communication and to teach kids respect is what needs to be done. you will find that a lot of kids become violent b/c maybe they are picked on and treated bad by other kids and to get back at them they do violent things like killing. all i know is that i am going to continue telling my child everyday that she is loved and that whenever she is having any sort of problem that she can come to me and we will talk about it. i want my little girl to feel secure and not to be ashamed to hold her head high and that no matter what any body says or thinks about her that i think she is special, beautiful and smart.

Yes, I have seen continuous video viewing turn a normal 8 year old into an ill tempered bully.

when kids grow up playing them, i do think it creates violent tendencies.

ex. my brother started playing atthe age of seven nows hes 14 and sometimes he'll choke his little sister for NO REASON (she wont even be talking) and he'll point knives towards people and move his arm in stabbing motion during dinner.

the best selling games are fight, combat or war games. before you played them, you're urged to buy them coz you like them.
The art of warfare is more ancient than any civilization.
