You trying to make this a competition of who suffered the most???? What are you, 8? "My boat is bigger than yours" type of thing....
I'm talking about a specific thing, specific period of time and specific people.... Of course, history is filled with those tragedies and it's awful.
I'm talking about Roots and the Klan...When I move on to the Nazis, I'll give you a call so you can state your peace...Geez

Yes, but Americans like to say: Slavery ended 100 years ago!!!! So what if during that 100 years blacks were systematically killed and oppressed, Japenese were interered (but not the Germans), and some immigrant yokel walked off some boat in the 20's with more rights as an American than every single black person whose backs the dern country was built on.

But the first guy is right...all racism is evil. So is hiding behind a gleaned over version of history.

That's nice.
Of course, wouldn't it be really nice if you educated yourself.

The US wasn't even the worst, as far as African slaves are concerned.
And Africans never experienced the type of punishment met out to Jews through a long, difficult and continuing struggle.
When was the last time your neighborhood was decimated by rockets and mortars?
Jews have been the direct attack of several attempts at genocide.
There aren't too many Jews living in the slums of Harlem, are there?
They, as a people, help each other and have integrated themselves into American society.
Because, after all, we are Americans, period!
We are not German Americans, nor Dutch Americans and not African Americans.
We are Americans!
We are black, white, yellow, brown and red.
We are christian, bhudist, catholic, pagan, fundamentalist, scientologist, muslim, shiite.
We are hard working, lazy, smart, stupid.
WE ARE AMERICANS!
We have a society unlike any other on the planet.

And as a person who grew up in the projects of Warren, Ohio, I can tell you first hand that most of the projects were black and the schools I went to were mostly black; I heard and continue to hear about how difficult it is, while they did/do nothing to get out of the situation.
Most didn't walk miles to the library and check out books, like I did.
Most didn't try to learn another way of life, like I did.

Yes, racism is horrible and ugly.
IN ALL IT'S FORMS!
Because your ideals are racist as well.
Wishing white peoples ancestors are rotting in hell.
What about the BLACK slave owners?
HUH?
What about the millions and millions of African slaves in Brazil?
The Brazillian slave owners?
What about the Egyptians?
Where do you stop?

The bottom line...It's called hate.
In any form and for any reason.
It promotes intolerance and pain.
Leave it, lose it and forget it.
Live life.
Do unto others as you would have done unto you and leave this place better than when you found it.

Trust in one thing. Racism is usually a need to blame another person for their particular position. In general, when you meet intelligent, successful people you do not have to worry about it. Racism is more of a socio-economic problem in these times, more than a problem of race. And even though you may hate the racist, unfortunately alot of them were not given the choice, education, or socialization to be anything else. It is truly a shame.

The Klan were a bunch of SOB's no doubt.

Please note that not all Caucasians have "roots" in America.

My ancestors came from Sweden and had NO association with the KKK or any other radical group.

I agree. I myself have never been victim to racism. But there is nothing that disgusts me more than the thought of it. I just don't understand. What makes any one person better or more important than another? People are people are people. That's it. We all have hearts, hopes, and dreams. The fact that another human being thinks that they have the right to dictate and discriminate what another person wants to do is HEINOUS. Nothing is more odious than the intolerance for anothers race or culture.

yes it is evil and ugly. ever watch crash? that's a really good movie about racism today. it was such an eye opener! i felt moved when i watched it. i think it's sad that people are still racist today against each other at all. why people still hate over a skin color is beyond me or why they ever have. and it's not always even race it's sometimes just simply money people hate poor people etc.

i know it is very upsetting to see people treated they way they have been in the past. and looking back into history there have been lots of other groups of people that were treated in the same ways. but now all we can do is pick up and go on. what is scary is history is known to repeat itself..............
