If you want to send something from the USA, send something from your local area. Ukrainians rarely get to leave their country, so a picture book of scenery, small figurines, or such are unique to them (but things sent from here can incur customs fees that make it very costly to the recipient).
If you want personalized service, you can use a local "shopping" service. A very reputable one I have used is "Irina's Translations" (irinas_translations@yahoo.com), and they accept payment via PayPal.
