The funniest thing about foreigners is the way alot of them know nothing about South Africa! I was overseas last year and was studying with Americans. When they asked where I was from and I replied South Africa, the response would be, 'yeah, but what part?'!! And if there were any that knew anything about SA, the questions would be like, 'do you have internet there?' or they would think we live in like mud houses and have sand roads and ride around with a horse and carriage! Lol! Wake up! South Africa is just as developed as most countries! I wonder how many Americans out there actually do know anything about SA! I wouldn't think too many...most of them are too patriotic too know what's happening in the rest of the world!

As for some of the comments i have read i am appalled South africa has problems but so does the USA, Uk, AUS, NZ,and all over europe the last time i checked newspapers dont sell happy stories it sells talking of rape murder and aids and yes south africa has this but i find its a country that has more to offer then people think and ppl should def become more open minded!!! I am PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN and when travelling europe an american girl was so shocked that i was white oh my god a white person in africa its a bubble put themselves in its shocking!!! Everywhere in the world has certain areas you know will be trouble that does not mean south africa is different theres great places and bad some logic thinking is all that is needed

I spent two weeks there last year, Jo'burg, Durban, Pretoria and Cape Town. It's a beautiful place and I really enjoyed my time there, however, it is not without it's share of crime/security issues that you must be aware of. I had no problems though. I had a great time. Cape Town is one of the best cities on earth I think.

Hmmm. Muti murders, 2nd highest crime rate in the world, highest AIDS rate, Farm murders i.e land "redistribution"....so I guess "yes" would be the answer to that one.
