You can clean an LCD screen with a damp, lint-free cloth. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL!! It will damage the display and create horrible streaking.
3M makes a nice cleaning cloth that is safe for LCD screens. It is a microfiber cloth that doesn't scratch the surface.
All LCD screens are not the same. Refer to your manufacturer's instruction booklet for specific cleaning recommendations.

Yeah, the "Screen Cleaning Fluid" stuff is expensive. I bought some alcohol and ammonia-free spray, along with a rag. It works aswesome, ti doesn't smudge like windex, but then I asked a few guys and they told me to use a 50% water/rubbing-alcohol (isopropyl) solution, and a good soft rag.
Works just as fine, and alcohol evaporates quickly. I guess you should really just avoid ammonia, and you should not clean it with water alone or windex. The problem with LCDs is that they're layers of film, so they need some special care.
Besides that, you can either check the owner's manual or you can contact the company that made it.

No, it is not diluted Windex. That is the worst thing you could do. I bought the bottle of cleaner and the supporting cloth also at Circuit City here in Canada and it is tremendous. Nothing like it. If I remember correctly, the solution, in a spray bottle was around $10.00 and the cloth , a microfiber material, cost around $6.00 I use them on my computer and TV screens and they are wonderful. I wish they had something like that for ordinary glass windows.

I use glasses cleaner from LensCrafters. It's a good cleaner without harsh chemicals (they make it so the AR coating on lenses won't flake off). Works great.

Go to your local grocery store and get yourself a thing of those Wet Wipes...same thing...a lot cheaper. I use it and have no problems with my LCD. Works great.
