I work for a big company and there has been alot of change in my department. I also have a new manager which to start with we had a very good relationship. However this has not been the case of last and i feel that all decision making has been taken away from me. My manager does not involve me in any verbal communications but does include me in email correspondents. I am feeling like a spare tyre at the moment and feel i am not contributing anything to the new team. What are you thoughts on how i can deal with the situation?

Ask to speak to your manager and tell them exactly what you are saying to us."I am feeling like a spare tire at the moment and feel i am not contributing anything to the new team." If you do not feel involved ask what you can do to get involved and become part of the team again.

any chance your new manger is younger than you? sounds like it to me. i also had a job that i liked and liked my manager, then she got a promotion to a higher up job in the hospital and of course we ended up with a 25 yr old, never had any management expierience before and all changed. i eventually had to quit my job. i just couldn't go in there and face the game anymore. it seems that the younger generation has no respect for people that have been in the business longer than they. i would just get another job........keep notes on what takes place everyday for two weeks......then make your decision as what to do. there is nothing worse than going to work everyday, since we spend more time at work than we do at home, in a place we hate. or working with people you can't trust. happens at alot of places where we work. if your manager is young then they
feel insecure and thats not your fault.

In the current fast moving world change is the way of life. One must learn to live with ever changing work environment. Why don't you thing that earlier boss was a dependent on you and present one is able to take better decisions with out your aid. If you are so particular have a detailed discussion with him and get your problems solved.

Do you feel that the new manager is stealing your ideas?
If so, you should save and print out the messages you exchanged with him / her, then take them to the bigger boss.

The same kind of thing happened to my sister once.
