the sea is blue, because the light from the sky is reflected off the sea surface. The blue light from the sky itself is due to the diffraction of white light from the sun by the particles in the air.
The grass is green because it contains chlorophyll. This is a green pigment. As such, they absorb every other colour EXCEPT GREEN(that is they reflect green).

Water absorbs light....the blue light can penetrate the furthest and as a result the colour of the ocean is blue. As the water gets shallower and the depth gets below the length required to absorb the light then the sea changes colour, first to more of an acqua green then closer to no colour (transparent). I think that means red penetrates the least whilst yellow is between the blue and red.
As the water becomes more filled with particles like sand, mud, algae then the colour of the water gets darker because the blue also gets absorbed leaving an asbence of light (black).
I can't easily explain why a deep water stormy ocean appears so black (because deep water is presumably free of sand, mud etc) except that if it is cloudy there is presumably less light. Perhaps also because the angle of the bigger waves absorbs/reflects the light better.
Grass is green because of the chlorophyl in the leaves that help photosynthesize light into 'food'.
I think it is also interesting to note how these colours affect our 'psyche':
Green and blue are relaxing colours.
Whilst red, the colour of fire, blood, tired eyes, dangerous plants/animals and Donald Trump's ties has the opposite affect.

it depends on what sea u r talkin about, if it was blue its because its a reflection of the skyin clear water that makes it look blue. plants are green because of the pigment called chlorophyll which is green.

Similar to what happens to a rainbow, white visible light is split and blue light is scattered when the sun is high, while red or orange light is scattered when the sun is low.
Grass, like most plants, contains chlorophyll, a green pigment used to carry out photosynthesis.
