Shouldn't we lesbians be able to get married?

What is wrong with going to a sperm clinic to get pregnant?

So what that we are less likely to be monogamous than straight people. Who cares?

Should Government just stay out of my wedding?

I think part of the problem is that we think of marriage as a m/f situation, for years when we think of a wedding cake, its with a man and a woman on top. Its not a situation in which expectations can't change, but for right this minute, thats what it is. People, as rule hate change, gay marriage asks for a social shift so large that most havent even considered it, so when it comes up they yell "NO". Right now there are religious rules and customs that prohibit gay marriage, there isn't much you can do about that here, but a civil marriage, that is one recognized by the state, thats different. As a citizen there shouldn't be a separate class of human, one who can't have the rights of inheritance and decisions a married couple can legally make for one another, and the gay person.
As to who cares about monogamy, that is part and parcel of marriage, and if its not included then whats the point? If you truly love someone, the idea of hurting them that way with someone else is painful to you to, and if you don't feel that way, don't marry. Marriage shouldn't be just a party and a thumb at the nose of convention.
Many straight women get pregnant at sperm clinics, I don't see, or to be frank, do I know of problems there. Not saying there couldn't be, just that I haven't personally heard of any.
The government sticks its nose into anything to make a buck, don't count on them staying out here, or at the divorce either when you come right down to it.

I personally do not understand why everyone is so against gay marriage. We had this debate in one of my classes a couple days ago, and it made me want to cry to see how much hatred and ignorance there is towards homosexuals. I support gay marriage. I believe that if two people, regardless of sex, truly love each other and want to get married they should have the right to do so. I don't think there's anything wrong with getting pregnant by a sperm donor. I believe it's time for gay marriage to be legal. I'm Christian, but I don't believe that the Bible teaches us to hate homosexuality or think it's a sin. The Bible teaches love and tolerance, and I feel that all the Christians who are adamantly against gay marriage and gay rights are hypocrites.

There is no gay marriage to be for or against, it doesn't exist. Civilizations, both Christian and pagan, have defined marriage as being between a man and a woman for all of recorded human history.
Is it perfect? No, and it cannot be because ppl aren't perfect. Will adding a new kind of marriage/civil union improve it? No.

Everyone is not out to get you.

Get Married. It would not affect me one way or the other.

The issue we all know it. The problem is on this issue the govt can not seperate church from state which is clearly defined in the book. Because they do not want to upset the book readers.

I agree people should marry whoever they want.

I want you to and i encourage you to go ahead and file for divorce even if you are not married. Divorce is so much fun i would never want to deprive anyone from the experience. All of the lies, destructive behavior, losing the house, car, and 2/3 of your underwear is something every one should experience at least once!! Perhaps it would be better to contract with OJ or Robert Blake!!

It`s funny how this is such a big issue in these times when GOD is being forced out of everything else huh ? This is how I look at it (I`m not gay)Gay people don`t choose to be gay. That`s how they were born. They need to be considerate of other people in public but what goes on in their homes is their business. This disagreement between letting them get married is not GOING away. Just because some don`t agree is not going to make them go straight.SOOOO ... There needs to be a compromise somewhere. I think (for the hardcore Christians and the gays(because the rest of us frankly ARE SICK OF HEARING ABOUT THIS CRAP)I think that gays should have a legal commitment).Just like being married but for the HCC not in the eyes of GOD.For the gays they do need a legal arrangement to protect them legally. Like anyone joined together they have combined financial obligations and property . They need the same kind of protection in case of death or if they split up.Both sides need to agree to disagree. The gays want to be seen as married legally and the Christians don`t want god involved.Neither side is EVER going to win this 100% .So Compromise and lets focus on more important things that concern us all as a nation like terrorist,Iraq,Iran etc...We are individual people with valid disagreements but we won`t continue have that freedom to live like we want and express our thoughts if we don`t join together as 1 nation . This is the United States. Think of what those words actually mean !!! We as a country have to many hang ups of how other people live their lives but are the first to judge other governments that tell people how they can live theres.........................................................................................................................................................................................................It`s kinda funny how the church preaches *take the bible literally* they say you can`t change it to how you want it then the bible says *love thy brother* .. Arn`t the gays taking the Bible literally ???HA HA had to throw that in

One of my favorite quotes spoken after a gay marriage proposal was shot down:

“Indeed, the true nature and extent of the discrimination suffered by gays and lesbians is perhaps best illustrated by the simple truth that each one of the plaintiffs could lawfully enter into a marriage of convenience with a complete stranger of the opposite sex tomorrow, and thereby immediately obtain all of the myriad benefits and protections incident to marriage. Plaintiffs are, however, denied these rights because they each desire instead to marry the person they love and with whom they have created their family.”
- Chief Judge Judith Kaye

If you want the government to stay out of your wedding, will you be using your welfare check to pay for the dance hall? Oh wait bitter lesbians dont dance, they stand around bashing men...hmm...you are on to something here..you should go into lesbian wedding planning, have a turkey basting station and a men bashing stand.
God speed little lezzie

Yes, they should. The laws pertaining to marriage have proven to be outdated. People now are less willing to fake being what they're not for the sake of fitting comfortably into society. The laws need to change along with this. (And on a side note, get your own ID.)
