Can you see him making any foreign policy achievement? Any great leader faces times when a CHANGE in policy, strategy or position can resolve difficult situations. I don't see any of this in Bush's stance.

James: I would hardly equate Bush with Churchill.
He would not even rank with Chamberlain.
As for Johnson: I suppose you did not mean VP Johnson under Lincoln. ? Or was it LBJ, whos'e presidency was destroyed by Vietnam ?
I assure you after Gallipoli Churchill had a different strategy regarding amphibious landings.
Especially after Dieppe.

Ruth: I think this Pandora's box can be closed at least paritally if not altogether. If you want to make the supreme sacrifice I won't stand in your way.
Bring it on. It does seem kind of pointless though.

Proud 2B: So you are saying I and others like me are undermining the Bush admin ? At this point I feel ALMOST sorry for Bush, but you are giving me entirely too much credit. Seems to me Bush is and has been his own worst enemy. The tragic thing is the high degree of emotional attachment others have to this man. With BOTH Houses, the Executive and most of the judiciary you would have thought he might have accomplished SOMETHING worthwhile?
My lack of support for this president and his invasion of a weakly defended country does not ammount to much. Maybe I am proud of myself for NEVER believing in or voting for him but one peon with a keyboard can't take down a presidency. Last time I checked we still had freedom of speech. But enjoy your war while it lasts. Hey, maybe something good will come of it. maybe.

Ynotgale : I seem to recall Trueman was actually elected to his second presidency...even if the newspapers said Dewey Defets Trueman.
Bush and Trueman are not even close in stature.
On one hand you have an elititeist blue blood frat boy whose daddy's friends bailed him out of numerous pitfalls and got him the presidency. Check out Trueman's biography; decorated WWI Army combat officer, small business man, and a capable president. .

Bush is stuck in his own quagmire of unintelligent thought, he has no intellect of his own. His narrow focus will not allow him to change the course of disaster, even if it causes mass murder. He is nothing but a spokesmodel who has overreached his capacity; just read the lines George. The scary part is that almost half the American people voted for him. Despite ourselves, we lived through depression, world wars , Vietnam, McCarthy, Nixon, and Gingrich. Rome is burning, until we come together, there will be misery and destruction. Don't listen to the dividers, the haters live in their own hell, God have mercy on their souls.

He only has two more years in office and the only thing he can do is agree with congress on any issue, except for putting us into a war. So far most of our men have survived in Iraq, but we should not even be there. If there were not so many bleeding heart liberals in office in Washington, this thing would have been over years ago, but because of the way they think, they are SO scared that they might offend or hurt someone, that they won't go ahead and do what needs to be done over there or anywhere we have stuck our noses, so we end up sending our ground forces over there and some of them are killed trying to help a country that doesn't want our help in the first place. We have the most power-full nation on this planet and many allies, but if we keep sticking out nose in everyone Else's business, we may end up in another world war and my friend, if we have another world war, we won't survive.

Anyone can change strategy when just listening to polls but then all you are is a politician which a lot of people can't stand and not a statesman. A food for thought during the Korean war Truman had a 28% poll rating, now he is considered one of our great presidents and 50 million Koreans live in a democracy try to picture Carter or Clinton in that era and I guarantee you the South Koreans would be living under Kim Jung Ill. Like Truman history will be the ultimate judge if our president was right or wrong.

I'm quite sure that someone else will come up with an idea that can be made to look as though the Bush administration initiated it,and that will be efficient enough to sway the opinions of many....

It's going to be tough.
With people like you undermining his Administration and empowering the insurgents and terrorists his Presidency is pretty much going to be ineffective at this point.
You should be proud of yourself.
One thing about Bush. He attempted to do what he believed to be right for the American people. He is more concerned with fighting terrorism than he is with salvaging his Presidency. I tend to look at that as a noble thing. A man who stuck to his principles instead of doing what would be considered popular or taking the easy way out. I call it integrity. You should try it sometime.

I think one of George Bush's biggest downfalls is that he will not admit his mistakes...Everyone makes them, admitting them, seeking help to resolve them and then acting on the admission of a mistake to correct it always the most logical thing to do

Change is not the issue.
Ask Churchill if he should have changed course.
Ask Johnson if it was a good idea to change course.
Leaders lead through criticism and do what "they" think is best not what polls or media pressure.
