first thing to do turn off the furnace at the switch remove the thermostat from the wall jumper the red and white wires to gether now turn the switch back on if furnace lites then u have a bad thermo.if not then u may have a bad switch in the safety circut also make sure the door is in place because there is a door interlock that keeps the furnace in lockout .follow the wires from the interlock to the other safety switch's and see if any have a red button poped

Look at the thermocouple, should be just in front of the pilot, when replacing it turn the unit to off, then remember where the old one was placed in the holder, place the new one the same way. Turn the unit on.

Something like that, I would seriously consider hiring a professional. With the dangers of carbon monoxide. Its not worth saving some dollars by doing it by yourself. I know this is not the answer you wanted to hear, but think of your safety first and the safety of the ones you love. Good Luck!

It sounds like the gas valve is bad. The high limit sensor could be bad also. You can test that for continuity with an ohm meter.
