I got this plant from a funeral. It has bloomed since I've had it. It's been sitting in its own pot for about 6 weeks. Would it be ok to plant it now? Or should I wait until spring?

Camellia sasanquas can be planted in October or in March and April. In mild areas you might be able to plant now. They like a sheltered location preferably in a forest like setting to be protected from frost and early morning sun. Camellias thrive in sun provided the root run is cool. This shrub grows 10-15 ft,blooms from November to February. The soil must be lime-free enriched with leaf mould. In April mulch with a 2 in deep layer of manure or lime-free compost. Stake the young plant until it is well established.Do not plant in waterlogged areas.

You can plant it now, neighbor (myrtle beach sc, here) our winters aren't that harsh. Be sure to scarify the roots and water it with Root Stimulator. Fertilome makes an excellent product. It will take full sun to part shade -- you know how big they will get. good luck
