Sorry, I'll admit I think its kind of cool for the short term but its kind of permanent.
I don't know why girls don't focus on less permanent fashion shocks. I mean, dying one's hair a radical color has the same shock value (and is also kind of attractive) but its reverseable.
Who dreams up these fashion trends for young girls?

As to attractive being person opinion. I agree, however permanence is kind of fact not opinion and what is in today is generally not in tomorrow. I'm not gonna "force" you to dye your hair blue or anything, although my paint company would benefit greatly!!!

I agree with you, people need to stop marketing such permanent fashion trends to young girls (and guys). Everyone I know that got a "cool" piercing in highschool has taken it out now that we're done with college and now they have a scar. People getting tattoos as soon as they turn 18 just for the sake of having one is ridiculous too, how can you do something so permanent to your body on a whim?!

I asked myself a similar question when I was getting my tattoo the other day, now there is permanent! I think piercings are a little less permanent though. It's just fashion and part of self expression. As for dreaming it up...I think some poor person thought they'd do something original and suddenly everyone thought it would be great! I do feel alot of (not all) young girls jump into it before thinking it through too much but again, if you change your mind in a few years its not that big a deal to remove it. my friend had one and took it out when she got too big during pregnancy and the scar isnt too noticeable. The world would be a boring place if we were all the same :)

I had mine done 13 years ago when I started college. Then I grew up, started a family and had to conform with being a conservative mom, complete with twin set sweaters and a minivan with carseats.
I am now a single mom but I still dress conservatively - The car seats have been replaced by shin guards and soccer balls. Every now and again one of my boys will get a glimpse of my belly button ring (it's very tiny and gold) or the tattoo on my back and they sit in awe over the fact that their mom was once a wee bit on the wild side and didn't always go to church on sundays.
I keep it now to remind myself of how far I've come since being a stupid teenager and know that it can come out at any time. I'm also grateful that it wasn't my eyebrow or my nose.

Well, it is my body and its not that I need the piercings, its that I want them and I am happy having them. I like how they look, I love the process of getting piercings. and tattoos. I don't worry about the future all the time, and I try to live my one and only life the way that makes me happiest. You don't agree with that, I do not care. Those things are done for me and no one else.

yes you are right when i got my belly pierced i thought that as soon as i was tired of it i would judt take it off and thats it, well i did took it off and now that i'm pregnant theres nothing i regret more than the time i got my belly pierced, now my scar streched and is two inches long red and it look horrible!!! the saddest thing is that i didnt get anyother strech marks in my belly but that one, sometimes it even look purpleish, so yes people should think a little more about radical things on their bodys like tattooes, and other body piercings!!

What YOU find attractive is YOUR opinion.
I have my belly button pierced 4 times, and I don't really care whether you like it or not.

its just something cute that girls started doing. Theres nothing wrong with it. I got pregnant and had to take mine out, but you know, if a girl likes it, thats all that matters!!
