I mean what's the Christmas all about? Being with the ones close to us, our family, relatives, friends, right? So where is that special feeling if we can't be close to them? How can I look forward to Christmas knowing that my dear ones will be so far?! **** the presents, I don't want any; I just want to be with them... Well, I guess I'll be the grinch this Christmas!

I'm not totally alone, I do have my friends but my friends are in fact just people that I know for a very long time, not FRIENDS in the real way. My problem is that the persons that matter the most to me will be like... 6000 miles away, there is an ocean between us. Sure, we can have video calls and talk but that cannot replace the real thing. Come to think of it... I should be grateful for the Internet right?

You can't be the Grinch because you can't steal the christmas to anyone according to your tale, basically you'll be alone. I think you recognise christmas because you already feel it, You feel a need to be with your love ones and that is the special feeling. According to my beliefs Jesus wasn't born on december 25th. but I respect that, and I myself and my family join together on these days, well if we can, to share the last days of the year and welcome the new one and to share all that feeling we cannot describe. Where is that special feeling? It's in your heart. Posting this question makes me believe that is in your heart.
Your family and friends will be with you, you'll be in their thoughts and hearts.

I don't think your as much of a Grinch as you think you are. You don't care about the gifts, you care more about being with loved ones. You sound more like one of the Whos in Whoville. Sorry, I am not trying to be funny, but you may have more Xmas spirit than you know. Do you have friends where you live that you can spend the holidays with? If not, and I know how cliche this will sound, but it is so true, try volunteering on Xmas Day - Seniors home, mission, soup kitchen. You already know what Xmas means, so go spread it around!

Christmas should be in your heart all year long. Just because you can't be with your loved ones isn't any reason to be a grinch.
Go adopt a family for christmas and spend the holiday with them. You will feel better for it.

You may be a nice grinch and not even know it. In my family we have stopped the practice of giving each other a lot of gifts (that's for the kids). Instead, we just share in food and laughter and lots of games. We just can't take all of that commercial frenzy. Instead, we all give one gift to those in real need through this wonderful sight we found on the Episcopal Church homepage. It is their World Relief and Development effort. We give chickens and cows and sheep to poor folks in villages whose lives can be changed by our simple kindness (and these gifts are very inexpensive for us, under $100). Check it out. I think it will make you a happy grinch.

Me personally I hate this whole time of year, Christmas is so not what it's supposed to be it's not funny. However If you want to rehash that old feeling or do somthing to spread the old x-mas cheer find a bunch of folks who have to work on christ mas (gas station attendants, video store clerks, nurses, ect.) and give them some lotto tickets ar buy them a pizza or somthing. talk to them for a few, sure your far from home but they're stuck at work

give to a family in need that can't afford anything for christmas. Maybe it will put you more in the mood.
