Mine was Ravenloft. I loved it although it did get a bit too dour for an entire world setting and would have been better as a country in the forgotten realms. What did you like, Dragonlance, SpellJammer?

Mine is Forgotten Realms, mainly because of the amount of detail involved and the freedom to do whatever you like.

You have areas that are your basic good vs evil, and others where its more shades of grey and any where you can create a character to operate as they see fit and deal with the consequences.

You also have a variety of cultures, most even have their own unique pantheon, and even some races.

Was one created by a friend of mine. Is was basically a huge underground dungeon with many levels. The good thing was that whenever you played, you affected the environment with your actions. e.g. if you graffitti'd a wall, that became part of the game. If you wipe out some monsters, others would set up there because it was available. So over time, he had many different groups playing there and you could go back at a later date and see changes in there. Unlike many settings which are basically static 'stages' for your adventure.
As you became more powerful, you could go down further levels to fight more challenging foes or retrieve items left behind by others.
