I've been trying to get around this formmail installation but i seem to have hit a snag here---->

This is the read-me documentation section of accompanying the downloaded script

please help me translate this paragraph in simpler terms, and whats cgi- bin and where can i find it???

INSTALLATION

Formmail is installed by copying the file FormMail.pl into your cgi-bin
directory. If you don't know where your cgi-bin directory is, then please
ask your system administrator.

You may need to rename FormMail.pl to FormMail.cgi. Again, your system
administrator will know if this is the case.

You will probably need to turn on execute permissions to the file. You can
do this by running the command "chmod +x FormMail.pl" from your command
line. If you don't have command line access to your web server then there
will probably be an equivalent function in your file transfer program.

cgi-bin is a 'goddamn' folder located on the server, cgi scripts/programs are stored in there. very few free webhosting services provide access to this kind of scripting so if there is no cgi-bin folder you're out of luck.

you need to edit formmail.pl on your pc first to add your site to the @referrers variable, then formmail.pl needs to be placed in the /cgi-bin folder of the web server, then change it's attributes to 775.

various variables can then be passed from webpages to formmail.pl to send the custom email.

cgi-bin is a directory on the web server you are using.
if you are trying to install formmail on your own server and dont know whats going on, you probably need to create that directory and enable cgi support on your web server.

And how much time did you spend trying to find out when the instructions said to ask your system administrator twice?

I agree with Rawlyn and...use of curse words, especially using God's name in vain, shows ignorance in the ability to find a better word.

"goddamn URGENT" is just a bit unnecessary don't you think? Apart from anything else, it implies that none of the other questions are as important as yours - an arrogant sentiment I think you'll agree.
