I don't think a narcissist needs any help, narcissism isn't a disease, is it?

You can't. Instead of beating yourself up trying, hope the person gets into therapy, and run in the opposite direction if they don't. Narcassists are not likely to change, and their behavior usually causes turmoil for everyone around.

Well, you have to state the facts in a clam and monotone voice as if it were nothing at all.
examples:
My little brother does that too.
Yea, you look as good as anyone else.
Other people that get A's on their tests too, big deal.
Basically you are bringing them back down to earth.
Hope this helps

the best way is to learn to reflect what they are actually saying.
learn reflective listening. eventually a person will hear themselves.
just keep listening with empathy and reflect the feelings beneath what they say about themselves.
