My parents didn't give any of their girls middle names - so when we got married our maiden name would become our middle name, and all my brothers have my mom's maiden name (Ricks) as their middle names. Not many of us have carried on that tradition. One brother has given his boys his wife's maiden name, and one sister has not given her girls middle names. I think one middle name is most appropriate, unless circumstance or tradition call for more, but I wouldn't do more than 2. It's too hard to fit on official documents. (I know of a boy named Preston Edward Albert and they call him sweet PEA.)

I have 2 middle names June Nicole. I have had a lot of problems having two and my daughter only has one. My suggestion no matter how many you give your child make sure when you fill out ANY paperwork you use the same name(s) EVERY time.

16??? I've never heard of that happening before! Thank god, I only have one middle name, and it's Marie. I think the limit should be 2 or 3 middle names. How does she write out her full name? It must take forever! Wow. Wow.
Please e-mail me at soccer_chick430@yahoo.com and tell me what all of her middle names are! I'd like to know!! :)

I only have one middle name but my daughter has two. I wasn't planning on giving her two but my husband wanted one name because it was a tradition in his family. I wanted another name because it was a tribute to a good friend who had passed away in high school. We just decided it was easier to give her both, lol. Anyway her middle name is Elizabeth Marie. Personally I feel that you can have as many or as little names for your child as you wish.:)

I have one which is Andrew....I hate, but I am a third so it runs in the family. I think 4 middle names in acceptable...I want to name one of my daughters
Kimora Mariah Danielle Gisselle Lee....Barnes
So four middle names or three without Danielle...I'm not really liking Danielle anymore!

I only have one, but I know some people who gave each of their kids two. One of my ex bf's friends also had a mom who had more than 2 middle names, but I don't remember all of them or how many there were.

My middle name is Dawn. I gave all of my children just one middle name. I think more is acceptable if they all have a specific & special meaning to you & thats the reason for giving them.
I have a friend who named one of her daughters (full name) Dorieyan Payton Dale Windsor Sedam, they call her Payton.

I would have to say from experience that you should stick to one. I named my son Nicholas Lawrence Benjamin Williams-Benton, so more poor kid has two middle names and two last names! It was a BITG mistake and we NEVER use his second middle name or his first last name. When we got his Social Security card they omitted his second middle name to!
