A hot water bottle, a hot cup of sweet tea and ibuprofin.
I get grumpy, emotional and bad cramps but try and remember life doesn't suck and its just the PMS. If its really bad I have been known to throw up.

Hello,
Everyone behaves differently when they are due on and during. Some women get really emotional and can cry and become tearful over silly things.
Some women get no problems!
Some can get really touchy and on egde and angry. Snapping and losing their temper really quickly.
Personally most of the time im fine. I usually just get abit tierd and humpy 1 to 2 days before and then im fine.
REMEDIES FOR PAIN:-
Take Evening Primrose Oil Capsules once or twice a day with or after a meal. Do this two weeks before your due on and then continue for a week after youve finished. This helps decrease the pain.
Foods rich in Iron or Iron tablets also help towards pain.
Yoga and light exercise helps reduce pain.
Limit your alchole intake during and just before. This increases depression and increases heavier bleeding and ofcourse pain.
Drink plenty of water throughout your period.
Hot bath or hot compress on your area of pain will help.
Applying light pressure to the area aswel helps.
REMEDIES FOR MOOD SWINGS:-
As above about alchole intake.
Try to have a nap for about 15 to 20 mins a day. (Thats a nap, not a sleep).
Yoga and meditation
Ginseng flavoured tea helps boost your spirits.

That's funny because I posted this question a couple of days ago. I wrote: I'm 39 and within the last year, PMS is getting insane. I get so depressed to the point of crying all day and wishing I was dead, the tiniest thing sends me into a fit of rage, I get anxiety to the point of panic attacks, plus I get clumsy and cramped.... and then in 3 days it's gone and I can't believe I behaved that way. I feel like I should sedate myself into a coma and stay in bed for 3 days a month!!
It's weird because I was never like this. I'm ashamed because last week I actually kicked a hole in the wall due to the noisy neighbors--and for years everyone has always said to me "you have the patience of a saint"!
I read up on hormones, herbs and vitamins, so I'm going to seriously handle this problem. I'm worried I might get worse!

I'm 34 and have been dealing with terrible PMS since I was 9!!! After trying just about everything, including every legal drug out there from my doctor, I can say only what works best for me...
1.) I put on some nice, loose, comfy clothes
2.) I remove all human irritants by asking my husband to take himself and my daughter out for a while (with the promise of a reward for him at a later date).
3.) I rent a good tear-jerker movie, like 'Truly, Madly, Deeply' (it gives direction to my emotional outbursts)
4.) I pull out my best and most high calorie box of chocolates
5.) And lastly and most importantly, I open and drink a GREAT bottle of wine
Let me tell you, It makes me feel a hell of a lot better than the drink a gallon of water, do yoga and the "go to a happy place" crap! I've tried all of those and they don't work for those of us who have seriously bad PMS!
Good luck!

Exercise, believe it or not.
Try to avoid drugs for pain relief, when natural remedies work better.
When I start to fell moody, get stomach cramps, which then gives me diarrhoea, migraine, dizzy, insatiable need for chocolate, legs feel like you're walking around with lead boots on, you think everyone knows you're on, and you think you smell, which then makes you even more depressed, and you just want to curl up in a ball and not surface til it's over.
So when I feel like than, I do a bit of house work, make the beds, hoovering, dusting and all the pain goes, don't know how it works but it works for me, and it may work for you. And I have a clean house.

I get irritated, not moody, just irritated. I am friendly but I can't remember where I put anything, I am in a mess, nothing goes right. I use essential oils: take 30ml base oil, 5 drops rose essential oil (expensive!), 5 drops lavender, and 5 drops ylang-ylang. Smells great and it really relaxes me. I rub it on my pelvic region, above the uterus and ovaries as well as my back. I also run around to get all the irritation out. Plus I have a real understanding cat. Helps a lot.

AND ALL I NEEDED WAS A LITTLE PROGESTERONE
Julie Upfold - hysterectomy, Estraderm patches, breast swelling,
tenderness, lumps, night sweats, mood swings, hot flashes, water
retention, headaches, high blood pressure, palpitations, high
cholesterol, and aching joints - victory with progesterone and good
nutrition.
Patricia Knowlton - A nurse, suicidal thoughts.. a new person in one
week of natural progesterone
Amy Houston - irritability, mood swings, cramps, nauseous and dizzy - gone with progesterone
V.S. - 13 years of irregular cycles, hemorrhaging, weekness - normal
with a little progesterone
Janene Dixon-Smith - BCP's then migranes, insomnia, back and neck
tension, hair loss, irregular periods, bad PMS, drepression, no
libido, couldn't conceive - then victory with progesterone.
"New evidence suggests that researchers and doctors may have been
looking at the wrong hormone for 50 years and that natural
progesterone is Nature's answer to hormone replacement therapy. "

a very good remedy is combined starflower and evening primsrose oil capsules they both balance out the hormones making you feel less prone to mood swings been taking this for years. I'm certainly a lot calmer the week before my period and hubby is soooooooo glad about that

Eat loads of fruit and veg, drink lots of water all through the month and exercise regularly. You'll have fewer PMS symptoms and your period will be lighter and much less painful than normal. Something to do with the toxins you put into your body being stored in your womb lining (doesn't sound good does it?!)
