Yesterday my wife had a dinner social with a bunch of her co-workers and they really wanted to meet the baby, so we took him along. What we didn't know was that there was going to be a live band performing at the restaurant. We stayed for a little while while they were warming up because it wasn't that loud, but once they started the actual performance it was extremely loud! We quickly got our check and left, but while we were waiting to pay the bill, the baby got exposed to some very loud music. Also, while we were walking out (with the way the restaurant was set up) we had to walk right by the speakers, so we got blasted by extremely loud music. It hurt my ears, much less the baby's. He was only exposed to the painfully loud music for a few seconds while we walked by, but I'm still concerned. He was obviously very scared. I wish so much we hadn't taken him there, but there's nothing we can do about it now. Is there a chance we could have permanently damaged his hearing?

Yes, a baby's eardrums are more senstive then an adults but if he still responds to obvious stimulate (clapping your hands, talking, singing etc) then I wouldn't worry too much about it. If his eardrums busted they would have started bleeding.

I heard that our ears get more sensitive as we grow older, probably nothing to worry about. I think if you sat in front of the speaker all night maybe it could do some damage but I don't think you were there long enough for that. Have fun being parents.

i wouldnt worry too much about it, altho babies do have very sensative ears, thats why they get ear infection alot more than adults, if the baby wasnt exposed to the music for a long period of time, i dont think u have anything to worry about...

if u notice he isnt listening or hearing to well, call ur doctor.

Dont worry....there is no chance of yur baby getting a perm damage unless he/she is exposed to continuous high powered decibel sounds. Look for yur family doctor if u are not convinced.

I would immagine their ears are more sensetive, but i doubt it damaged the ears drum. If he is fussy still take him to the doc and see whats up. they can do hearing test in a month or so to see if there has been any damage. Good luck.

Babies do have very sensitive eardrums but everything should be fine. If you're still concerned keep watch, though it may be hard to tell, & see if you notice your baby not responding to noises it recognizes.

Yes their eardrums are more sensitive but if it was only a minute or two I wouldn't worry but mention it to the doctor on your next visit.

I doubt it damaged his hearing permantly, but I would have a doctor check him out to be sure.
