Manufacturers have people who go to factories where their products are made. These people check to see the overall efficiency of the workplace and assess the factories ability to meet production deadlines. They also check the quality of the finished product. They look for defects and make sure that the factory is not using the wrong materials or cutting corners. Another aspect of quantity management is to find out the location and suitability of subcontracting facilities used by the facility.
Quantity management inspectors generally do not look for human rights violations (That job is more often assigned to compliance inspectors). Quantity management people are interested in the production capacity of contracted facilities.

Congratulations on your GCSE results, top set of grades! However taking 5 A levels is a little crazy, I had a similar set of results to you and i took 5 As levels, including general studies, which doesnt really count as you have one lesson a week, no work outside of lessons and only one lesson a week. You've picked 4 intense courses there, i can't speak for product design as i don't know anyone who has taken it, but several of my friends did the maths physics chem combo and it was a lot of work! I did ICT and although the work isn't too demanding on your intelligence, its extremely time consuming, however its a really good a level to have, especially if your intrested in quantity surveying. So my first point is if you want to have any sort of a life for the the next two years, drop one of your subjects!!!! Sixth form is a really good time of your life and you can have a lot of fun, not if your stuck in with 5 sets of revision/work/coursework, live a little!! I'm starting the CMQS course at loughborough on thursday, so again this is a slightly biased answer as I'm not clued up on civil engineering. However the plus point of the CMQS course is that is a sponsored course. ive been working for my sponsor, morgan ashurst this summer, and its been great experience. Quantity surveying has lots of job oppotunities world wide, especially in the commercial industry. However civil engineers are also in demand. Your looking into your university course early, which is good, but i think maybe you should research both careers thoroughly, perhaps get some work experience so you can understand which you think would suit you more, then choosing your course will be much easier. xx
