Don't worry about it - really. So many kids get braces, and quite a lot of those whom you think are going to make fun of you will probably end up getting them too eventually. It's so commonplace now that I didn't think it was even an issue anymore. I had braces 20 years ago (man....now I feel old), and it was no big deal then either. Better to have braces than crooked teeth!

You're lucky that you guys have clear ones now. I had to wear the ugly metal kind for 2 years and hated it! It is so worth it to have nice teeth. People can be really cruel about bad teeth even when you're an adult. It could affect your getting a job or a girlfriend as superficial as it sounds. I'm sure you won't be the only one with braces! Remember, just be lucky that you have the clear kind. If someone says something, say "Atleast, my parents can afford them" or something to that effect.

I used to wear braces, top & bottom as well as another girl and we used to wear our headgear as well. The metal bar that protruded from our mouth. We knew the longer we wore that, the faster our braces would come off.
We were teased but soon the teasing stopped. They would ask us to tune into a certain radio station type of teasing.
We ignored them.
The results are well worth it.
You'll just have to make sure your teeth are well brushed so nothing gets lodged into the "tracks" of the brace.

When I were lad back in t'old day I had braces and I didnt get as much abuse as I first thought. I dont think people really care about stuff like that.
And another thing is my teeth are proper straight and much less gappy now, looking back I'd definatly have braces again!

First - Thabks for answering my question so nicely. No one at your school will make fun of you, at my school it was the norm for people to wear braces, Im a college now and there are still people with brces, apart from me. No worries Braces Kick ***!

Don't worry braces aren't bad and just think what a nice smile you will have. My daughter had them and you could hardly tell she had them. Lots of kids get braces so you want be the only one.

I had braces and the chicks loved it. Thought it was cute. My girlfriend hated it when they came off. You'll be fine just don't be too self conscious and geeky about it, because it's really not a big deal.

@ first they will all want to see what you look like w/ the braces then after a wk. or two it will be an old thing & they won't bother you, just think of how nice your teeth will look afterwards.
PS buy soft foods, it will hurt to eat after you first get them

people will always have something to say no matter what you do. your dental health is much more important than what people will say. not to mention after it's all said and done you will have better teeth than them! it's only a short time of your life and trust me it will be over before you know it. i have a friend who chose to get them as an adult and the time flew by. they do make the ones that are clear and not as noticeable now also.

Just think of it like this, with your braces on you won't look the same, but when you get them off you'll have never looked better.
Trust me its worth it.
