David Fuller, True or False, Grand Rapids: Grand Rapids International Publications, 1973, p. 78.

"In the Gospels alone Vaticanus has 589 readings quite peculiar to itself, affecting 858 words, aleph Mshas 1460 such readings, affecting 2640 words...Codex Vaticanus differs from the Received in the following particulars: It omits at least 2,877 words; it adds 536 words; it substitutes 935 words; it transposes 2,098 words; and it modifies 1,132; making a total of 7,578 verbal divergences."

But the Sinaitic Ms. is even worse, for its total divergences in the particulars stated above amount to nearly nine thousand.”

Jhon Burgon, The Revision Revised, p. 12.

"It is easier to find two consecutive verses in which B and aleph differ from each other than two consecutive verses in which they entirely agree "

These differences happen because of the copies made throughout our two millennia of Christian History. Some copies had errors, and these errors would be transferred to the subsequent copies.

This is why we have so many divergences between these manuscripts.

But, as someone said, the "original" Bible is the word of God... in my belief, since I'm Christian.

Fuller's numbers mean nothing because the codices (all of them) are not intact; i.e., they are not full editions - there are numerous lucanae (holes and tears). Vaticanus for example lacks the final quinterns - a portion of the Pauline Epistles (Heb. 9: 14-13:25, the Pastoral Letters, Epistle to Philemon; also the book of Revelation.

The Bible has some knowledge from God in it, I don't know the percentage, but it does contain some. The gaps in science shows where he should be. The Bible Code is concrete proof that God exist, one code says,"We will be hit by a comet in the year 2012.

If you are not a born again child of God, you will NOT be able to understand the Bible at all, no matter how intelligent you are. The Bible seems a foolish thing when you read it without the help of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible was written by man. If it is to be taken as a work of non-fiction, then obviously it must be an auto-biography.And like any story, may or may not be based on fact or perceived reality. If it provides you comfort and you wish to believe in it, good for you.Unfortunately, the authors are no longer around to confirm their sources.

It was the word of God in its original text, but I'm afraid it's not anymore. I agree with both David Fuller and John Burgon.

We are told that the Bible has no scientific errors and is utterly perfect/protected, yet it says the bat is a bird (Leviticus 11:13 & 19), hares chew the cud (Leviticus 11:5-6), and some fowl (Leviticus 11:20-21) and insects (Leviticus 11:22-23) have four legs.
