I know it can be very irritating to come across the half-read scholars , language challenged and intellectually challenged guys that go around frothing at the mouth about Islam being the "True Faith" and blaming the West and Western Culture for everything. They piss me off, too.

But then, not all Muslims are like that.

Many of them are quite well educated and are as irritated by these jerks as you and I are.

The 4 wives principle of the Koran is actually an old Mosaic Law, revived in the Surah of the Cow, which actually says that the maximum times that a man may marry is four times in his lifetime, no more.

Besides, it also decrees that he may not marry the second time if [a] his first wife is alive, [b] healthy and not afflicted by any incurable disease and [c] not divorced from him.

You see, that makes it virtually impossible for the man to marry the second wife, leave alone aim at four.

Some Middle Eastern and Eastern Muslims have misused this and other statements in the Koran to keep a harem even including little children. However, you'll find the Western and educated Muslim condemning these guys as much as you and I would.

See the problem here with many people (of whatever spiritual mind) is that they love to make too broad statements... which end up making little sense.

I'll help you... Muslims in general arent polygamists or terrorists (just as Christians in general are not Republican or whatever). Muslims who condemn the West belong to a certain group called Al-Qaida and Associates... yes they HATE the West but they are less promoting Islam and more promoting Arabian Wahabbist barbarism (and yes these particular Muslims are polygamists).

Are you serious? Obviously not. I'm a westerner born and breed and i don't condemn western culture and neither do the Muslim i actually "know" ( im suspecting you don't know any) don't either. I certainly don't do anything in life that's considered perverted in regards to polygamy or otherwise. You ignorance is obviously vast. You know nothing about the laws or history of Islam. You are just trying to provoke people, well its not working. Anyone who is going to agree with you are idiots and those that know the truth could care less what people like you say.

A high proportion of well educated Muslims embrace Western Culture with enthusiasm. Many years ago I taught a group of pre university science students, all of whom were from the Middle East (Saudi, Lebanon, Eygypt) and they were just like British students of the same age. They came from privileged backgrounds (one offered me an oil well if I told him the answers to one exam!!), bought expensive cars (can you imagine how galling it was having to park my MGC alongside an Eygyptian student's Ferrari Dino?) They went out to clubs, presumably enjoyed a small aperitif (!), had Western girl friends -and were generally a happy and popular group.
I still have several Muslim friends, all highly educated to PhD level - and linguistically gifted. I really like them. They are no more like the media image of a fanatical Muslim than I am like a rebellious Eskimo. They are as appalled by some of the extremist Islamic views and actions as most Brits are by the policies and views of parties like the BNP. So it pays to be a bit more circumspect before placing all Muslims into one (usually extreme) category. By the way, I don't know any Muslim with more than one wife/husband; even Muslims get put off by the thought of several mothers-in-law!

Oh shut up, Ignorant! Where do you get this crap from? Perverted polygamists? Most Muslims have only one spouse, and they follow very strict rules about sex. The Qur'an is very clear about what is acceptable and what is not. Maybe they "condemn" western culture because of the crime, violence, drugs, children without fathers, lax attitude about sex and marriage etc.. I am from the US and I condemn all of this too! Please know what you are talking about before you spew such hatred and stupidity.

Not all of us condemn Western culture/society. Some of us dont understand or agree with it/ but at least me and my friends say "To each his Own" I dont walk around saying rude things or judging anyone.

You shouldn't speak of what you don't know, it makes you sound ridiculous and poorly educated.

Most muslims men have only one wife. And if you think polygamist men are perverted, instead of blaming the muslims, look at your own country and find the mormons, christians like you (I think you're christan aren't you?), who also give themselves the right to be polygamist.

Polygamy was a rule set by the Prophet in the Quran, because at that time his people were slain by Crusaders, so they were running out of males since they were sending even the youngest ones to fight against Christians. No more males in their tribes, only women were left, so, in order to defend women and provide them with anything they needed to survive and feed their chidren with, the Prophet thought of giving each man 4 wives. Obviously nowadays there's no need for polygamy anymore, and, as a matter of fact, it's still in use only in those fundamantalist Muslim countries. I'm a TUrk and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk forbade polygamy 80 years ago; so...when you talk about Muslim countries you should keep in mind that they differ from each other.

If the Bible is our moral guide, then how can it make pornographic statements such as: “...they may eat their own dung and drink their own piss with you” (2 Kings 18:27)? Also consult Numbers 31 where a whole tribe of people, including the elderly and children are slaughtered. The only survivors were the virginal women, who were later raped by the “just and perfect” Moses and his men. Is that what you want your children reading on Sunday?

And if you don't what to read than your relegion is invalid ,in the beginning the bible say every word is pure.

depends on which muslims. See I'm from Azerbaijan (a country you've most likely never heard of), and we don't really condem western culture. In fact, our cities are filled with Western influence. We got cell phones and movie theateres, and western style clothing, and some american cars, and rap music. So don't generalize us with one statement. The important thing is LOCATION.
