Im 14 years old and I used to have beutiful thin curly long hair but i got nits and i starting using the stuff to get rid of them. It practically ruined my hair. I have no nits now and my hair goes a little past my shoulders. It's very frizzy and dry and really really thick.. It's practically ruined. My father thinks i should cut my hair really short so it can grow back and i take real good care of it. He thinks it will grow back like it used to but im afraid im gunna look real ugly or somthing will go wrong or even it will just grow back the same. My hair is completely unpredictable. I dont want to straighten my hair. So should i cut it short???

I think you should go to a beauty salon and get some good advice on how to get your hair back in shape.

Jessie, depending on what color your hair is, I would suggest using a hair dye. I know it sounds stupid, but I use hair dye to coat and protect my hair. Also, the conditioner that comes with the hair dye IS the best out there. You could also try using some conditioner especially designed for color treated/ damaged hair. I like to use the one that Finesse has. It's not incredibly expensive and it works. I've been dying my hair since I was your age and I'm 27, so that's 13 years. I know about dried out hair. Don't cut it just yet. It's just dried out from the lice treatment. Refrain from using deep cleansing shampoos as this will just dry it out more. Also, you should refrain from washing your hair everyday. Let your hair get as oily as possible until you can't stand it, then wash and use a conditioner for damaged hair. If you do decide to cut it, it won't grow back dried out, lol, there is no damage beneath the scalp. It will grow back the way it was before. Depending on how much you cut, you may have to trim off what you left when it grows long enough.

How long does it take for your hair to grow? Like I can cut my hair in June and it can be down to my shoulders by end of September. If its like that go ahead and have a professional cut it there are some really cute hairstyles that are short.
But if it takes a really long time to grow, like a year. Talk to a professional and see what she thinks about it. Go to someone that an older woman trusts 'cause some only try to sell you expensive stuff from the salon cause they get a commission on it.

you loose between 80 -120 hairs a day wich is normal. within around 7 years you will have a new head of hair anyway.
what i'm trying to say is - your hair will change no matter what. this is true for everyone, not just you.

that stuff you used is HARSH on hair.

try this with what you have at home now:
get hair really wet. shampoo your hair (don't pull it all on top and knot it up) scrub scalp and finger comb thru ends. rinse WELL. towel dry hair (important step. conditioners have 'oils' and oil and water don't mix, remember). put conditioner in palm of hand. rub together and dab all over your head. now finger comb it thru. rinse with cool water. leave a tiny bit of conditioner in.

you know how most hairstylists with short hair want to cut everyone's hair short? well, i'm NOT that stylist. i have super short hair and i love long hair on other people. just not on me. i look like cousin it.
i want you to keep your long hair if you like it. i love long hair! it's so beautiful if it's kept healthy. get a trim , too.

that wont do any good, your hair will be the same because the problem lies in the nutrient of the hair. I would suggest using Sunsilk (blue) shampoo and conditioner every day for a couple of weeks to rejuvinate hair. Also buy the blue sunsilk leave in conditioner and put one or to dollups in your hair, your hair will feel greasy when it is wet, but sunsilk will not leave your hair greesy. Your hair should look good as new. Hope this helps.

Cutting it short won't hurt it if you can find a style you like while it grows back. It will even let you try out several different styles along the way. Use it as a chance to experiment.

I assume you've tried intensive conditioners?? If so and nothing works..cut it a few inches at a time. Healthy hair will grow in. Don't worry!

no i you cut your hair short, it will become more frizzy. basically like an afro, so just grow it out and it should be fine. either that or get it deep conditined.
