limewire itself is NOT illegal. what is illegal is sharing copyright material with other users. http://www.limewire.com/ is the most used free file sharing site. make sure you have anti virus running before swapping any files. the free edition of avg available from http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/ does a good job. once you have installed limewire do a search for limewire pro. then install this and delete the original. pro is faster. nice way to save$18.

It is legal although some things you download from it are illegal to download. You can get Limewire Pro by searching in Limewire Free. Although the Free version of Limewire Pro is Frostwire. It has different laws based on it and is made by the same people, it is exactly the same but is totally free. I think it's www.frostwire.com So I would say it isn't worth the money when you can get it free with a different and better name :/

Limewire Pro is GREAT, gives you fast downloads than the original. It was ruled illegal, file-sharing in a recent lawsuit However, they've found a loophole, a way to get around it, so yes, the money is worth it.

You can also click 'Programs' and type in 'Limewire Pro' and download it for free.

Its completely criminal to apply Limewire and Limewire professional. Its purely what you purchased and wether you're entitled to a duplicate is yet another element. To receive William Peterson is against the law in case you do not already own the dvd. you should purchase it or might want to finally end up paying for 10,000 copies of the dvd and likely detention center time....if you're traced and loose in courtroom.

It is only illegal if you share copyright material. But getting the Pro with the money is better because most programs on limewire are messed up

limewire won its legal battle due to the fact that the system is Java based and the fact there is no centralised area that the connection goes between

i.e

person wanting file <------- webstorage server <------- person with file

lime wire works direct Peer2Peer.

like people have said the software in its self is legal and using it is legal however downloading or holding content which has breached copyright laws or other sharing violations are.

No, you people do not understand I have been doing a lot of research reading the contracts and going to websites on this. The scam is that when they say it's legal, that means it is legal for them to offer the songs but it is ILLEGAL for you to download songs and not pay for them it is thieving from the artists. The amount you pay for the lime wire pro does not count as paying for the songs the artists never see that money.

Limewire pro by itself is legal, its what you download on it may be illegal. Most music is copyright, so most of the time its illegal. General rule of thumb, if you use it, you will probably end up using it illegally, but who cares.
