are people esp. in america being brain-washed to think that the personal lives of celebs is more important than wars etc?

in Sweden i know that celebs don't matter so much as in USA, you won't find their tirades or drug problems on mainstream news either. they have real NEWS on the news......

This isn't how I feel, but I'm sure that alot of people are sick of hearing about the war. Unless people are affected directly by the war(having family members overseas, etc.) they just don't care. The story is hardly ever changing. We have soldiers dying constantly, but because it's not happening in our own back yard right now, it's easy to forget about. It's easy to get distracted by celebrities I guess because for some strange reason they are treated like gods. You can't get away from them.

It certaintly is not a new trend. Unfortunately, it is easier to get lost in the "unreal" world than to understand the real world.
