Ronnie Gardocki>>> last year avg. attendence in Carolina was an avg. of around 2 to 3000 empty seats tickets NOT SOLD a game, and you could buy playoff tickets on game day, now you tell me if the game is selling in Carolina.

Now now ladies, lets not bicker. The reason they don't sell tickets is because its in Carolina, a swamp, not exactly not a hockey town. Even the Devils, 3 time Stanley cup champions and have been a dominant teams for the last decade give or take a couple season, don't draw well at all. Hockey IS having trouble drawing in some areas, but in other places, its still flourishing. If they had only made the game this exciting a few seasons ago and avoided the lock out these places might have higher attendance.

NC natives (southerners) just don't find a liking for hockey around here. Its all ACC basketball and college sports most of the time. Most hockey fans around here are from the north and/or have grown up with the game of hockey, but then there are people who became a fan as soon a the team moved here. I go to a lot of weekday games at the RBC Center, and those are the ones that have usually 12,000-14,000 people in attendance and are never sold out. If there's a good matchup on a Friday or Saturday night, all the tickets are usually sold out. But that doesn't mean that everyone that has bought a ticket shows up at the game, but don't ask me why. Its the true fans (majority STH) that go to the games and the true fans that support the team through good and bad seasons. (yes, this isn't such a good season, but I still support my team) Just thought I'd put in my piece of mind.

Honestly, the game really isn't selling anywhere anymore. I don't know what the attendence was for the Bruins game was last night, but the place was almost empty. The team isn't great, but it's worth watching. They are 8-2 in the last ten games beating teams like the Maple Leafs twice, and the Lightning last night. Nobody is really interesting the game anymore with all the rule changes. If you ask me I fell there is way too many penalty calls for the little things. I hate the fact that on the defensive end you have to let the offensive players stand out front making camp fires and smores. I miss the good ol' days. I have to live with it when I'm on the ice in the Men's league I play in. The kids I coach have said they don't like playing the game as much because of the rule changes. If players were allowed to play with the intesity of the past the game would be alot more interesting.

Canadians aren't watching hockey either. I read in Hockey News
that tv ratings are down over 20% on Canadian tv. I was shocked when I read that. But you are correct, attendance is down in all the teams in the States. Colorado sold out every game for something like 6 years straight but now they are not selling out. I know some arenas sell more tickets than what actually show up for the game. I can't imagine having a ticket to a hockey game and not going!

So? Just because Cdns are willing to spend $150 or more for good seats to BS meaningless regular season hockey (and they do here in Vancouver), does not mean Carolinians want to. I'd worry more about the empty seats in such hockey strongholds as Chicago, Boston and St. Louis.
Not every city can be Montreal.

Was that attendence or tickets sold? I know that for the NY Rangers games the attendance is much lower than tickets sold. They sell out or almost sell out every game, but if you look there are still empty seats. The seats are sold, the team makes money but people dont go to the game... who knows though.

Thats because people in the south are rednecks who have never seen a sheet of ice before.
Also about the Rangers not having a full house all the time but selling out, its because Dolan sold alot of tickets to businesses who make money off of selling them or giving them to clients.

Why are you still going on about this. Not everybody can afford tickets to go to every game. I mean people do have to work and do other things. Quit complaining about the canees not having any fans. Gosh hockey isnt about how many people go to a game its about playing the sport. Is that all you care about is how many people go to a game!
