Yes, inside the tooth under the enamel is what they call dentin, and just under that are your roots. If your tooth is chipped you may have exposed the dentin thus causing your roots to become irritated, and an infection can begin. If it is just a small chip, they may not need any anestetic to fix it. A quick simple painless fix that will save you alot of grief later.

Yes , please get it fixed. I has a chip in my tooth, and I left it. Over about 1 - 2 years it turned black, and was infected and took alot more trouble to fix it than if I had fixed it straight away. At this stage you can keep your natural tooth, I had to get a fake one because they couldnt save it. Also sorry to tell you, you might not feel it for a while, but it will start to be painful. Sorry to sound like a mother, but i know I went through alot just because of what started as a small chip.

so , a portion of teeth is missing , a part from esthetics teeth has got so many things to do , one of which is function , if it'santerior tooth , it requires fro tearing and biting , and if it s posterior tooth it needs for chewing hard and soft food .
more over , when enamel is worn off , and underlying dentin is exposed , mind u pulp is immediately below the dentin , which is very sensitive and any sort of irritant leads to severe inflammation , and it svery prone to deccay and when this happens u need to bare the sever pain even to cold and hot beverages ,and atlast u may land up requiring root canal traet ment , mind u if ur fragemnt of tooth has been lost as aresult of trauma and tooth has become discoloured , u definately requires root canaltreatment ( r.c.t )

Yes, get it fixed. I had one too, couldn't even see it, that was a couple years ago, now it is hurting me and I am afraid and going to the dentist and having that fixed. There could be a tiny crack we can't see that could lead to decay and rot. We don't want that.

I can't say without seeing your tooth, but if it is VERY superficial, you can probably just leave it alone without risk of decay. Just brush it as well as you can. Remember that I can't see your tooth...

you're right! You're tooth is now prone to decay if it's chipped.
