Hehehe that is so funny, I get really similar things. Especially on public transport, and the underground- I get the urge to kick people, trip people up, or prod them with my umbrella- hahaha that makes me sound so unstable, but I'm really not, and I'd never actually do it. I think it's just an impulsive thing, there's nothing wrong with it unless you actually do it, or don't even recognise that it's probably an unhealthy thought to be having, in my opinion.... but I'm just off to wallop someone with my bag now.... xx

Lots of people if questioned admit to having urges to do something which appears crazy. Other common ones are jumping off bridges, posting your keys down a drain or in a letterbox, stealing something, etc.
Most people don't go on to act on these impulses. There is a theory that criminals often have poor impulse control and hence do the kind of risky, impulsive things that get them in trouble. People with certain mental health conditions, particularly mania or hypomania, may find their impulse control drops and they are less able to exert self control.

Well it does sound like she has some issues with anger and/or impulse control. Thankfully it sounds like she has the control currently to not a throw a drink YET but if she keeps thinking about doing and this is unprovoked..she has a mental issue and should seek professional help.

i have had urges to do some crazy things, however i dont see myself to be meantal or anything of the sort, i would never actully do it and im sure its the same with your friend. ive had urges to do much worse then throw a hot drink at someone so its pretty mild. dont worry about it :) i think its just got something to do with an active imagination and the fact that i daydream a lot.

I think we all have these inner urges sometimes! I do! Sometimes I imagine myself stabbing my husband to death during an argument, but I love him dearly and we have the best relationship and I'm an easygoing person!! It's natural and most of us know our limitations and how far we can go. It's the crazy ones who pass those boundaries and actually act on their inhibitions!!

uncontrollable urges, especially a tenadancy towards violence or physical action can indicate a level of stress and anxiety or even tourettes - your friend should discuss this with a GP
