goddamn. i really cant believe that even with people spelling out the dangers of putting sugar in your gas tank, that some of the answers are from people saying "really? i didnt know that!" NOTHING should be put in your gas tank other than gasoline (petrol to my international friends), or maybe some gas treatment or fuel injector cleaner (the latter of which CAN make your car run more efficiently and thus slightly improve your gas mileage). Not dr. pepper, not pepsi, not sugar or water or oil or ky sex lubricant--nothing but gasoline (or gas treatment/fuel injector cleaner). Oh, and by the way, did you know that if you drink drain cleaner, you will run faster? All the best football players do it...an entire bottle of draino per 100 pounds (60 kg) of body weight should do it.

The problem with "funny" questions like this and the smart alex answers is that there are those who read this that will think you are serious. Well maybe they get what the deserve.
Sugar in the tank will not help the mileage, but on anything late model it most likely wont hurt the engine either because the electric fuel pump in the tank will stop running as soon as it picks it up. Of course some of these pumps are very expensive so thats enough.

It actually won't. The problem lying in many areas of the properties sugar for one it is not combustible and does not add to the power of the engine for one also when sugar gets hot it caramelizes . This will gum up the valves and pistons degrates oil efficiency. If at that point it does not lock up the engine it will leave deposits in the intake, fuel injectors and other various parts that will stop the proper flow of gas. If you really want to mess up your engine go ahead and put it in. If you only put in a little bit it may not be so evident but it is breaking your engine. BTW.... IT only take one can of coke in a gas tank to totally take out an engine.

Okay, this is for anyone who actually isn't sure about this.

Sugar WILL RUIN your engine. Sugar carmalizes with heat, will counteract your oils lubricant properties, and your pistons WILL SIEZE. Your engine would have to be rebuilt.

Do NOT ADD ANYTHING to your gasoline aside from such approved additives as DRY GAS and OCTANE BOOSTERS if needed.

The morons who are telling you to add stuff are obviously little children, or even sadder, adults who never mentally developed past puberty. Anyways, the answer is NO. Not now. Not ever.

Really? Because I thought that sugar made gasoline NOT work, like you pour sugar into someone's gas tank and it deactivates the gas or something. Hm. Interesting.

Try a Litre of Dr Pepper - for every Tank of Unleaded .. I tried it in my Focus & 307 SW .. gives me about 50 mile more per tank ...I know its not much but ...these days with petrol at 85p a Litre.. I better watch out Scrooge Brown might start taxing Dr Pepper.

oh yeah, the carburetor ,fuel filter, lifters and valves are really gonna love you for it too. i suggest you start with your car....add 2.5 lbs of sugar per gallon of gas to your tank. drive around for ohhhhh, about an hour or two. then post on here what the results were.

This is totally true! I do it every time I fill up my gas tank! I get like 40 miles to the gallon in an SUV, it's great! Sometimes, if I am taking a long trip, I through a little extra in there too. I mean, you know how hyper it makes kids, it gives just as much energy to your car!

Wow, do they really not have some sort of intelligence screen for this?

Try beer instead... It has the ethanol that is being put into gas anyway
