The simple fact of the Iraq war is twofold. It is the terrorist thing but also it's energy. Energy means oil. The supper you ate tonight came to the store in a truck that ran on diesel fuel. Suppose you went to the store and the shelves were bare like in Russia? Their crops rot in the fields because of lack of transportation. Also the keyboard you sit at is made from oil, as are the clothes on your back. The world depends on it to keep order and keep fed. What we are doing is keeping order in a vital part of the planet. Think of how the cops kick in the door of a house in a crack neighborhood and set up a police station. The other crack houses don't like it, they may even shoot back but over time the neighborhood slowly turns around. The house next door gets a new coat of paint and better tenants. The house next to it has its value go up. Order is maintained. If it is not maintained in the place that makes it possible for us all to EAT... Well hungry people get awful mean, don't they?

As a TOTAL usage of oil we only get 3.77% from Iraq (US pumps 42% of its own oil); even though this is true we need Iraq's oil, and other Middle Eastern oil, this is because they have over 100 years left of reserves, and the West supposedly only has 10 years left. This is scary in a sense that we rely on oil just about for everything: synthetic materials that we are wearing at this very moment, gas that Liberals need to get to their anti-war rally, car tires, computer keyboards etc.etc.etc.
Every country in the world needs oil, its just a fact
Look no further than the mirror people
Just like everybody else, I want to continue living my lifestyle; so as a result, we need Middle Eastern oil!!

America's top 10 suppliers of oil:

1Canada 9.29%

2Mexico 9.19%

3Saudi Arabia 8.60%

4Venezuela 7.46%

5Nigeria 6.20%

6Iraq 3.77%

7Angola 1.76%

8Kuwait 1.39%

9United Kingdom 1.37%

10Ecuador 1.33%

etc.

If America wanted or wants to the oil in Iraq:

Why are our troops not holding the OIL plants and fields?

If America Wants the oil: Why are we not building it back up or have built it back up to 100%. Right now it runs at barely 15%.

That had to do with Saddam destroying alot in 1993 oil fires.
We did not truely fix it then, nor have we now.

Iraq was never based on OIL:

Seriously where do you people come up with this stuff: President Bush may have Oil ties to people, Yes. He may know the King of Saudi. But, geeezzz, I have family members in the oil industry here in America. And since they work for Exxon and Pres. Bush is a "OIL TYCOON" I guess they know Bin Laden.
Your logic needs to be reviewed.

Thanks

I agree with J, in the sense we should consider other reasons for going into Iraq, because it isn't all about oil. Some perhaps yes, but not all.Consider these facts:
1. Saddam had and used WMD's against his own peeps, and against the Iranians. Where the WMD's are now...who knows.
2. He violated the resolutions of the UN, and wouldnt allow inspectors in to look at what he had, those are NOT the actions of an innocent person.
3. Saddam wanted control of Kuwaits oil fields, or else whats in Kuwait worth taking?
4. Many of his top officials and military people quit or defected, why?, to reveal the truth and for fear of their own lives...there are many documented accounts written by them that support the claim that Saddam had evil ideas brewing.
5. Saddam imprisoned people, he tortured people, he had people stretched and quartered, hung and left to dry and wither away. Its documented.
6. We could not allow him to sieze control of oil outside of Iraq, that would be really bad, oil might be in worse demand today if that were the case.
7. If he were in power today, NOBODY could deny he would be up to no good, still threatening people, still mongering.
So, the long and short of it is that somebody had to go in and get him out of power. It doesnt look like it now, but eventually things will calm down, and brgin to heal...though it may take a very long time.
I dont support our premise and motive for war that was given as a reason today, hell no, I dont like hearing about dead US/British soldiers cause it hurts a little more each time i hear of it. So dont get me wrong, I support them, not our motive.
At one point, I believe there was a ligit reason, but since that has evolved into too many questions, followed by confusion, then anger. Same as everyone else.
Yeah, we may have been mislead into believing what the Bush camp said as for justification, but we all know now dont we?
Either way, could any of this have gone differently? I like to know, but knowing wont fix whats already been done....
3000+ soldiers lost. Its not worth it like it once MAY have been.

Although markets are variable, America gets its oil from Venezuela primarily.

Without Iraqi oil fields, many countries would have to depend on other countries for oil. Still the picture you paint is too bleak. We could have spent the oil money on energy technology and developing the infrastructure of this country. We are a wealthy nation that should look out for its own future, as well as not infringing the rights of other sovereign nations.

i think that is one of the most reason for invading Iraq by the US forces ... it is all under the cover of freeing the world from terrorism ... let me tell what is terrorsim is letting all these iraq people being killed in hundreds and thosands and no one is doing anything and alot of girls being kiddnapped and killed daily and raped without no one doing anything and i think this is the the policy to distract the iraqi people attention to this dramas making them forgetting the oil and all the objective sources that the iraq has so the US can steal what they want from all the iraqis sources without putting any attention from the iraqi's about their rights coz they are so much in misery and suffering that they forgot all about what is being tolen daily from them ... and as I can see that the Iraqis are much more concerned about the large amounts of lifes that have been stolen other than they care for oil and side bjective things ..so it is apolicy that is totally working for the U S.
