It is not surprising at all and typical USA attitude from the right wing.
This is the USA way to do business, "exploit, use and abuse"
But we will all enjoy the decline and fall of the arrogant USA Empire that has already begun.
A Rise and Fall based on greed, corruption and exploitation.
In history it will be recorded to have been one of the shortest and most distastefull reigns of any Empire.
Unfortunately our mediocre politicians like B-liar thought he could also benefit from the ride - it shown just how naive most of our politicians, such as B-liar, really are.

The country who Britain exports to most is the USA to the tune of £54Billion. (ITN News) We have access to cheaper nuclear technology that no other country enjoys.

But the real benefit is in the area of espionage and intelligence. This is the area where the relationship is truly special. the US trust us with the largest communications headquarters in the world (http://cndyorks.gn.apc.org/mhs/ ) Sharing and cooperation between the two nations is unprecedented and unrivalled throughout the world.

I'm ashamed of my government for not appreciating the British more.

It takes a real arrogant S.O.B. to say what Myers said. Here's hoping the next president purges the State Department of people like that.

I think we have all been seeing America through 'rose coloured spectacles' The American Government sees the world through dollar signs and most Americans know this. Myers simply spoke the truth as he saw it.

As for Bliar's relationship with Bush I thought he was Monica Lewinsky.

You're quoting from yesterday's Daily Telegraph. I cited to that in a couple of answers yesterday.

It all started a week after Ronald Reagan left office. The Japanese invited him to Japan to give a couple of lectures for a $2 million honorarium.

This told something to US presidents -- and potentates of other countries too -- and this, just in the era when the "star" system of remuneration was starting (tens and now hundreds of millions of dollars for sports, entertainment, industry, even university "stars" and CEOs). It told them that if you are good to us while in office, we will make you rich after you leave.

Already Cherie Booth gets unlimited speaking engagements at high fees (but not as high as they're going to be next year, I predict) when she travels to the USA.

Watch this space: Tony Blair is going to join the club of the very rich. Very soon.

"Do you sincerely want to be rich?" Remember him, Bernie Cornfield?
